Tree Of Life
Age of Nemesis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Final minute of her sweet life
Final moment that lives on forever
Her selfishness went n' conquered her meek fright
And she threw herself down into the doldrums

She's just flesh and her blood's just mud
Damnation's now just a glimmer on her face
Her soul's a leaf from the tree of life
Is that a smile lurking somewhere beyond her face?

She's a leaf from up in the tree
Hey, that's just life, it'll never cease
Down below withered leaves rove
But up the branches new buds grow

That's our plight in the tree of life
We all plummet when we all die
Deadly winds rage in the bleak sky
Coldly hunting just you and I

Blood sucking, soaked-right-through diary next to her
She left her tale with the living here forever

I just can't resist, oh the temptation to understand
I read it through so it'll live with me in wonderland

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Age of Nemesis's song "Tree of Life" convey a story about a woman who has come to the end of her life. In the final minutes of her life, she is confronted with the consequences of her selfishness, which have led her to despair. Despite this, the song suggests that there may be a smile lurking somewhere beyond her face, hinting at the possibility of redemption in death.

The woman is described as being "just flesh", with her blood being "just mud". This dehumanizing language highlights the inevitability and universality of death, regardless of status or identity. The metaphor of the tree of life is used to capture the fleeting nature of existence, with the woman's soul being likened to a leaf that falls from the tree. However, even as the withered leaves below wander aimlessly, new buds grow up the branches, symbolizing the cycle of life and death.

The imagery of the blood-soaked diary suggests that the woman has left her story behind, which is now being read by someone else. The final line of the song expresses a desire to understand her story, implying that there is a sense of mystery and wonder in death that is worth exploring.

Overall, "Tree of Life" offers a poetic and introspective exploration of the universal themes of life, death, and redemption.

I thought that their name was just Nemesis... All the same, they are awesome by any name... I almost forgot about this album... I loved the old singer's voice... :( Zoltan is perfect, too, of course, but I guess many understand my nostalgic emotion.

It reminds me more of IAW from DT. Clean lines and transparency; little on more simple side but not by too far. Typical Hungarian energy output that is present in Hungarian top bands. Some parts sound even bit like Awake. But I don't think they tried to copy the material. They just met DT where it's feasible, with similar building structure - different melodies. I don't know but I can't hear any Uriah Heep influence there. Can you pinpoint moments where? I used to be a big fan of Heep in a past

DeathToNewbie

They should make "Land Of Light" as their single.. It's a much better song.
