She attended high school at Det frie Gymnasium and university at Roskilde University.
At the age of seven, Agnes Obel worked in a little band where she used to sing and play bass guitar. The group appeared in a festival and even recorded some titles.
Later, and with the help of Danish musician and producer Elton Theander, Obel founded the Copenhagen based band Sohio. After few years of collaboration, Obel debuted as a solo singer with her first album Philharmonics (2010).
Agnes Obel writes, plays, sings, records and produces all her material herself.
She is influenced by artists such as Roy Orbison, Joni Mitchell, PJ Harvey and also by the French composers Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Eric Satie.

Run Cried the Crawling
Agnes Obel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
From high hopes to the ground
While trouble sings along
Baby my heart and soul
A giant in the room
I left him long ago, following you
A cloak before the moon
I guess I've never known
Someone like you
Falling down
From high hopes to the ground
There's no way out
Baby my heart and soul
A giant in the room
We took the walk alone
And now we are through
Wind heavy on the ground
A cloak before the moon
I guess I've never known
Someone like you
Nature will get her way
Though you took her for a fool
Walking on the lake
Frozen under you
Baby my heart and soul
There's nothing we couldn't do
Summer's blowing cold
And now we are through
I'm alright here in your arms, darling
I'm alright here in your arms, darling
I'm alright only in your arms, darling
I'm alright here in your arms, darling
The lyrics to Agnes Obel's song "Run Cried the Crawling" convey a deep sense of disappointment and vulnerability. The lines "Crawling down from high hopes to the ground, while trouble sings along" paint a picture of someone who had high expectations that were dashed by unforeseen circumstances. The singer's heart and soul feel like a "giant in the room," but this overwhelming feeling is not enough to stop her from leaving it all behind to follow another. The wind, which is heavy on the ground, symbolizes an ominous presence, which could be seen as a metaphor for the singer's feelings of loss and sadness.
The second verse continues the theme of disappointment and loss, with the lines "Falling down from high hopes to the ground, there's no way out." This suggests that the singer has come to a point of realizing that there is no hope of turning things around. The reference to "wind heavy on the ground, a cloak before the moon" adds to the sense of an oppressive atmosphere. The singer then admits that she has never known someone like the person she left everything for, but it is unclear whether this is meant to convey admiration or regret.
The final verse seems to bring some resolution to the song, with the lines "Nature will get her way, though you took her for a fool" suggesting that everything happens for a reason and that the singer has learned from her experience. The mention of "walking on the lake, frozen under you" adds to the sense of a harsh and unforgiving environment. In the end, the singer seems to find some sort of solace, declaring that she is "alright here in your arms, darling."

Sometimes it works and I'm happy. I have recognized first, at night at Radio ard-kultur in germany, these amazing song familiar years ago.
Sad that great music hide away.
@usedfuzzbox
There are great moments in TV and Film, but the really great ones have that music track that forever makes you recall it, no matter what , and they stay inextricably tied together in your mind.
@Taru1blm
Though I detest television, I remember hearing a Perrier commercial well over a decade ago that played a song called "waves" by Camille. Was a great find! If you like this style, you might appreciate it.
