I Should´ve Followed You Home
Agnetha Fältskog Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can't believe it's really you
You still look the way you used to
All this time, what have you done?
Won't you tell me, what you've been through?

And maybe if you want to
Let's talk for a while
Dancefloor dust
Never quite settles
Busy feet remember still
The way we moved so close in the darkness,
All the music, the magic, the thrill
I must have been so lost in the moment
I missed the chance to make you my own
Now I know
Now I know
Now I know

I should've followed you home
Yeah, should've followed you home

So familiar and so right
You never left me since that one night
Though we try to say goodbye
Some things stay with you your whole life
For your whole life

Dancefloor dust
Never quite settles
Busy feet remember still
The way we moved so close in the darkness,
All the music, the magic, the thrill
I must have been so lost in the moment
I missed the chance to make you my own
Now I know
Now I know
I should've followed you home

Snow falls,
Street lights paint your face
Smile and say "take care"
I'll see you soon again

Maybe if you want to
I'll see you soon again

Dancefloor dust
Never quite settles
Busy feet remember still
The way we moved so close in the darkness,
All the music, the magic, the thrill
I must have been so lost in the moment
I missed the chance to make you my own
Now I know
Now I know
Now I know

I should've followed you home
Yeah, should've followed you home
Oh, should've followed you home
Yeah
Yeah, should've followed you home
Yeah

Yeah
Ooh, followed you home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Agnetha Fältskog's song "I Should've Followed You Home" speak of a chance encounter with a former lover in a nightclub. The singer sees the person that she used to know and realizes that she misses them. There is a nostalgic quality to the song; it reflects upon past memories and missed opportunities. The lyrics describe a sense of regret that the singer feels, having failed to follow her former lover home and continue their relationship. She acknowledges that she missed her chance and failed to make the person her own, but the memory still haunts her. She wishes to connect with this person again, and through the song, the singer tries to convey her feelings towards him.

The lyrics capture the fleeting moment of a former lover's encounter perfectly. As the snow falls and street lights paint the singer's face, she is left with the memories of their time together. She recognizes that certain things will stay with her for the rest of her life. She also realizes that dance floor dust never really settles, and she still remembers the way they moved together in the darkness. As she listens to the music, she recognizes that the magic and the thrill are still very much alive inside her.

You know what? You’re a piece of human garbage.
There is not a single video on the internet where someone (usually a man) decides that they need to comment on a woman’s appearance one way or another.
No woman can exist without it happening, no matter how unsolicited or irrelevant it is.

Either calling her ugly even if she is natural, raving about the unearned privilege of beauty, ragging on her for getting plastic surgery after having been insulted for her natural looks (and for daring to age) OR lauding a woman for simply not getting surgery or procedures and putting other women down in the process…at the end of the day a woman cannot exist without you still making it about their LOOKS and setting some bar they must meet which pleases you, always comparing them to each other so that some know they’re less valued than others.

You’re the reason why women get surgery to begin with.
You’re part of the same problem or avenue that you seem to look down on.
POS.

Agnetha is now 73 years old since 5-4-1950 she was born in Jonkoping Sweden…. As well depends what year that song came out too and way I even ❤❤❤ it myself as I was also a ABBA fan in my early teens (I became
a true ABBA fan when I was around 13—14 years of age)… so my favorite singers of ABBA were Bjorn and Agnetha!!! Now I am a “””” 60””” year old I still ❤❤❤ ABBA……so I’m hoping to make some friends who also ❤❤❤❤ ABBA and CELINE DION…,,Grant & Forsyth…. Shaun Cassidy and Baccarra fans
As well I ❤❤❤ is Die Flippers( a German band)…..Rex Gildo…..Roy Black….Costa Cordalis….all of these men are German singers from the country Germany!!!
As well I don’t mind is the Dutch group Luv……Pussycat where they had 3 sisters in the band they sang was “”” Georgie””” and Corrie Konings…the belated Arne Jansen…as well Koos Alberts and Albert West ..Guys and Dolls

So please please please do become my new friend in fcbook

As well I am sincerely not even looking 4 a another reason not even 4 a toy boy and so on as I rather remain single…. As well I won’t even answer no personal questions as my life is simply sincerely private…. But I can tell ya in advance I do live Australia born in Holland//Netherlands…. Wow~~~~
You wrote a good song for my idol Agnetha.
And
I was very, very grateful for singing with Agnetha.
I wanted to thank you, but I can't believe there's a comment here!!!!!!!!
It's amazing, amazing, and thank you.

This song you wrote made Agnetha shine even more.
I don't speak English well.

I've always wanted to say thank you, but I can't believe this has come true.
It's like a dream.
Thank you so much.

The song you composed is very, very good.
Of course
I love your voice, too.
