INSOMNIA
Agression Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ever find yourself awake
In the middle of the night
You've got insomnia
Grab a glass of water
Or a cigarette for your insomnia
But I know something that's so much better yet

Just grab the bong and numb your brain with pot
Watch Cal Worthington and his dog Spot
Insomnia, yeah it's so boring
Nothing to do at three o'clock in the morning

You can get dressed, go out for a walk
For your insomnia
But that's just asking for hassles

From your neighborhood cops
You've got insomnia

Overall Meaning

The song Insomnia by Agression is a relatable commentary on the struggles of being unable to sleep at night. The lyrics describe the frustration of staring at the clock and trying to find anything to alleviate the boredom and restlessness that comes with insomnia. The lines "Grab a glass of water or a cigarette" suggest the common remedies that people turn to when they can't sleep, but the singer indicates that they have found something more effective - smoking marijuana. The lyrics "Just grab the bong and numb your brain with pot, watch Cal Worthington and his dog Spot" suggest that the singer has found a way to cope with insomnia and pass the time, even if it's not the most productive or healthy solution.

The song also touches on the potential dangers of walking around outside in the middle of the night when you can't sleep. The line "But that's just asking for hassles from your neighborhood cops" implies that the act of going for a walk to try and wear yourself out and find some rest can lead to confrontations with law enforcement. This highlights the vulnerability and sense of unease that many people experience when they are awake in the middle of the night with nothing to do.

Overall, the song Insomnia is a clever and humorous take on a common problem that many people face. The lyrics offer a relatable depiction of the restlessness and boredom that come with insomnia, as well as the potential consequences of trying to alleviate it by unconventional means.

Listening to this for the first time in many years, due to actual insomnia. Back in the 80’s the insomnia was usually a by-product of having too much fun. Now it’s because of pure anxiety brought on from living in a toxic, dying world. That’s just how it goes when you don’t die young.

Next up is Cal Worthington and his dog Spot. Thanks youtube.

‘Watch Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot’—if you grew up in the 70’s and 80’s then you know.
