Oh God ! Oh God !
My eyes are blind !
From those around I hear a Cry,
A muffled sob, a Hopeless sigh,
I hear their footsteps leaving slow,
And then I know my soul must Fly!
Within my soul, from Head to Toe,
And then, Last Breath escapes my lips,
It's Time to leave. And I must Go!
So, it is True (But it's too Late)
They said: Each soul has it's Given Date,
When it must leave it's body's core,
And meet with it's Eternal Fate.
Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows? Tomorrow could be your Day,
At last, it comes to Heaven or Hell
Decide which now, Do NOT delay!
Come on my brothers let's pray
Decide which now, Do NOT delay!
Oh God! Oh God! I cannot see!
My eyes are Blind! Am I still Me
Or has my soul been led astray,
And forced to pay a Priceless Fee
Alas to Dust we all return,
Some shall rejoice, while others burn,
If only I knew that before
The line grew short, and came my Turn!
And now, as beneath the sod
They lay me (with my record flawed),
They cry, not knowing I cry worse,
For, they go home, I face my God!
Oh mark the words that I do say,
Who knows, Tomorrow could be your Day,
At last, it comes to Heaven or Hell
Decide which now, Do NOT delay!
Come on my brothers let's pray
Decide which now, do not delay...
The lyrics of Ahmed Bukhatir's "Last Breath" explore the inevitability of death and the importance of preparing oneself for the eternal afterlife. The song talks about a person's last moments, where they hear the mournful cries of those around them, feel a chilling wind within their soul, and know that their time has come to leave their mortal body behind.
The song's opening lines express the singer's realization that their end is near and that their close ones are mourning their departure. The use of repetition and exclamation marks in "Oh God! Oh God!" adds to the sense of urgency and the emotional intensity of the moment. The singer then describes the moment when they take their last breath, and their soul departs from this world to meet its eternal fate.
The song's chorus emphasizes the importance of making a decision before it's too late and deciding one's ultimate destination – heaven or hell. The repeated call for action to "decide which now" and "not delay" indicates the urgency of the message.
In the final verse, the singer laments that they cannot change their fate and that they face God with a flawed record. In contrast, those around them return home, unaware of the emotional turmoil and uncertainty the singer faces. The song ends with a final call to action to heed the warning and decide one's eternal fate.
Overall, the lyrics of "Last Breath" speak to the fragility of life and the certainty of death, urging listeners to make the most of their time and prepare themselves spiritually for the eternal afterlife.

My brother used to listen to this nasheed so much. He passed away at that time. And It hits me like this is a message from him to me. I miss him so much. May Allah bless him and forgive his sins and grant him jannatul firdaus.

I heard this when I was a small girl. It shook me to the core as to the purpose of life. I was so distracted and negligent. I was going through life as if I was sleepwalking! If we want success in the Hereafter we have to earn the love of our Creator and earn Jannah before it's too late. Life is too short to chase anything else. This nasheed keeps me grounded.
