The Climb
Ahmir feat. David Sides Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting
On the other side (the other side)
It's the climb
That dream I'm dreaming, but
There's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make, feels
Lost, with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I, I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain (Always)
I'm always gonna wanna make it move (Make it move)
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there (Now how fast)
Ain't about what's waiting
On the other side
It's the climb
There's always gonna be another mountain (There's always gonna...)
I'm always gonna wanna make it move (...be)
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose (Have to lose)
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting
On the other side
It's the climb
It's the climb (It's the climb)
It's all about the climb.
The song "The Climb" by Ahmir feat. David Sides is an inspirational ballad about perseverance and the journey towards achieving one's dreams. It acknowledges that the path to success is not always easy and there will be obstacles, but it's important to keep trying and moving forward. The lyrics encourage listeners to focus on enjoying and learning from the climb towards their goals, rather than just fixating on the end result.
The first verse sets the tone for the song, describing the constant struggle of going up against obstacles and challenges, and the desire to overcome them. The chorus emphasizes that reaching the top is not the only thing that matters, but rather the experience and growth that come from the climb itself. The second verse dives deeper into the doubts and fears that can arise during the journey, but ultimately encourages perseverance and determination.
Overall, "The Climb" is a powerful reminder to stay optimistic and resilient in the face of adversity. It is an uplifting anthem for anyone who is striving for success, reminding us all that the journey is just as important as the destination.

Thank you Ahmir so much for this song!! It has become my personal anthem and has kept me going through knee replacement, second degree burns, and being hit by a taxi and having a long hospital stay. I play it every day to remind myself to overcome obstacles and reach my fitness goals. Someday I will walk without a cane. Your song is an inspiration.

+gingergeri +davidsides I wasn't kidding when I wrote 2 years ago that your cover of "The Climb" is my personal anthem. I hold on to it and it is so beautifully done that it gives me hope. There were a lot of medical setbacks but I will have my 5th surgery soon and doctor says I will be walking in a couple months. I hold onto this song every day. Bless you for the artistry and impact this song has.
