The band's second album, The In Between, was co-produced by multi-platinum producer Eric Valentine (Smash Mouth, Queens of the Stone Age, Persephone's Bees). With 9 of its 10 tracks licensed, the album is one of the most licensed independent albums of all time.
The band was featured on L.A.'s trendsetting radio station KCRW. The singles Coming Undone, Wasted Days, and Lie Awake were also added to numerous college radio stations nationwide.
In 2005, Aidan released his first solo record titled Pillows & Records on CrystalTop Music. Produced by JJ Wiesler, the record features 14 original tracks. The CD features Jim Bogios on drums (Counting Crows), Tom Ayres on guitar (Persephone's Bees), the legendary Chuck Prophet, Brett Simons on bass (Fiona Apple) and Jason Borger on keys (Highwater Rising). An early demo of the title track was used in the 2004 season of THE OC and was in final consideration for use on one of the shows popular CD compilation releases.
Crush

I Look through your window
and I watch you sigh
You're getting off real soon
I should ask your name
Maybe get your number
We could go out sometime
It's all in my mind
I need some excuse just to come talk to you
Be my five minute friend
You know I've got time to spend
I hope you don't mind
That I've come to see you
and It's no mistake that you see my face
I know I'd do best to forget about us
'Cause there is no us
I forget: It's just a crush
'Cause there's someone else
He knows your name, yeah
and He's got your number
Maybe he's just a crush
Maybe he's so unkind
And he's never on time
He Doesn't know your such a find
There goes my mind
I need some excuse just to come talk to you
Be my five minute friend
You know I've got time to spend
I hope you don't mind
That I've come to see you
and It's no mistake that you see my face
I know I'd do best to forget about us
'Cause there is no us
Once again, I forgot
It's just a crush
I hope you don't mind
That I've come to see you
and It's no mistake that you see my face
I know I'd do best to forget about us
'Cause there is no us
Once again, I forgot
It's just a crush
The song "Crush" by Aidan Hawken depicts the inner thoughts and feelings of a person who has a crush on someone but doesn't have the courage to approach them. The person is depicted as following the subject of their crush, looking through their window and imagining a potential relationship with them. The person acknowledges that there is already someone else in the picture but still can't help but pine for the one they desire. The lyrics reveal that the person recognizes that this is just a crush and that they need to move on, but their feelings still overpower their rational mind.
The singer's lyrics reveal the inner struggle of having a crush, the fear of rejection, and the impossibility of a potential relationship. Even though the subject of their affection is unaware of the singer's presence and feelings, the singer still can't help themselves from hoping for a chance. The song seems to convey the message that crushes are just temporary and need to be understood as such. The song highlights the soothing and melancholic chords, which reflect the emotions of a person who is experiencing a crush.
