His father was a jazz drummer and instrument shop owner, and Turner followed in his fathers footsteps, also owning a music shop. It was here that he began to hone his skills on the decks, helping him to embark upon his musical career. Aim's sound is a blend of funky electronic music and hip hop beats, a sound which typified the Grand Central Records label.

He was discovered by Mark Rae and signed to Grand Central. So far has released three full length studio albums - Cold Water Music, Hinterland and recently Flight 602. He also released Means of Production - an album collecting together his early singles and two DJ mix albums (Stars on 33 and Fabric Live 17).

Much of Aim's work is instrumental, though his records include collaborations with other artists who provide vocals, including Stephen Jones of Babybird, Diamond D, Souls of Mischief, QNC and Kate Rogers.

Aim has also worked as remixer, mixing songs for a variety of artists including Ian Brown, Saint Etienne, The Charlatans, Lil' Kim, Thunderbugs, Archive, Down to the Bone, Texas and former label-mates Rae & Christian.

In 2004, Aim produced the fellow ex-Grand Central artist, Niko's debut album, Life On Earth.

Aim left Grand Central Records in early 2005 and formed his own record label, ATIC Records, in June 2005. The first album released on the label was Aim's Flight 602, which was released in September 2006. Niko has also signed to ATIC and will be returning Aim's earlier favour, by providing vocals for the new album.

There is more then 1 way to scale-up difficulty for aim benefits.

1. Time between shots (this video)
2. Angle between shots: how far/degree you have to flick.

Every player has a radius around their crosshair where they hit >90% of their flicks. (That’s why crosshair placement is important!)

For a new player it can be like 1 degree.
For a IGL it can be like 30 degrees.
For a star player it can be like >60 degrees.

Train at the edge of your own radius to expand it.

If you tend to jump from target to target in non-straight movements when aiming instead of straight line movements, I recommend the Aimlab exercise drawing lines. That can help a lot too, because I often see people jumping from target to target in weird circular motions, which takes a lot longer than just making a straight movement to the target.

personally when i used to grind aim lab for val, i focused more on tracking tasks which i used to struggle a lot with before aim training, and i also took sixshot much more seriously than gridshot as it encourages you to take ur time with the much smaller targets

@@sawhogan8580 Gridshot will help in a game like overwatch/Warzone/Apex. It's really good for shotgun type characters. It won't help you at all in a game like CS or Val though. I prefer multishot since it's varying degrees of size and distance so you have to think and adjust to multiple possible target sizes and locations.

using raw speed alone i was able to reach around 120k on gridshot with only around 85-88% accuracy, so for the last month and a half i decided quit that and go slow enough to where i could consistently hit 90+ accuracy, and was able to make my aim way more consistent and stable and reach 130k with 93% accuracy, even in game i have noticed comparing clips of before and after my aim is much more well thought out where as before i would just flick and have to adjust. in other words doing this i learned how to stop flicking and start AIMING

This video is absolutely spot-on. I basically made a custom playlist and played exactly as described. Over about a year of practice I went from somewhere in mid emerald to Masters 4, and I went from an inflated plat player in my fps of choice to a multi-season diamond player.

It makes sense if you think of how your brain actually learns. Your brain learns by building pathways. If you slowly train your brain to build a pathway and then reinforce the correct pathway you will eventually do it quickly and effortlessly. This is how your brain learns anything and everything.

I like to do gridshot: precision, in the precision mode, the targets get smaller over time, so players that start off swinging there mouse like a monkey are quickly punished as the mode progresses. It forces the players to find a fine line between speed and accuracy.

Thanks. I think this is a good advice. I would like to add, that one should try to find their preferred sens and apply it to different games.
My problem in some FPS is also, that I can identify the targets more easily in the training. But that is for training the accuracy of the mouse or even gamepad movements ok. In fact that helps to train the brain and muscles for good movement better than the game itself where one tends to have a layer of FF decision first (unless it is FFA of course).

You could use aimlab/kovaaks like an athlete would. They have an off-season where they ONLY lift weights and workout, then season where they stop training weights altogether and only focus on the game. You can use aimlab exclusively for a few months out of the year and solely focus on aim, then stop aimlab altogether for the rest of the year and only focus on the game. Your target reading skills will improve exponentially that way. Eventually you'll get to the point where you won't even need to take time off to practice aimlab anymore.

Also want to shed some light on how scoring works in Aim Lab since a lot of people probably don't know.

Your score is impacted the most by your accuracy. You get more points for hitting smaller targets and more points the more shots you hit in a row. In addition to that, you lose points every time you miss a shot. Speed will increase your score if, and only if, you are consistently hitting targets. If you have to slow down a little every time a small target pops up to ensure you don't miss the shot, you will end up with a higher score. If you really want to focus on speed only, the "speed" tasks are best for that as they display only large targets which are easier to hit. For "precision" tasks, you benefit way more from taking your time to ensure as high of accuracy as possible as the targets get smaller.

I looked up my Gridshot Ultimate high score, it's ~71k. Headshot Precision, on the other hand, my average score is 99th percentile(just under 100k, different scoring model). Then Multilinetrace, I'm on the leaderboard with 119k.

I had to come back to this video to leave this comment as I think it is just brilliant. This advice is so simple but clearly beneficial. I'm an old (for gaming) man with a relatively poor aim trying to improve. I took your advice, and for a few days in aim trainers, I focused on landing more shots, missing less, and gave permission to myself to have worse scores. What happened pretty quick - while my scores dropped for a moment, it was just a moment... I quickly started beating my previous scores while having better accuracy. Great advice. If practicing at a high speed is bad for aim because it develops a habit of missing, would it be bad to practice in the open range against the hard bots if I can only get around 13 kills consistently? If so should I lower it to medium, and wait until my aim improves to the point of getting 20-25+? The mistake I think a LOT of players make is also that they only tend to train their "flicks" (which is all well and good and helps with reaction time and muscle-memory for learning where they need to move their hand to in order to hit the next target) but they neglect their tracking aim or aiming whilst also moving/strafing to avoid damage and make it more of a "real-life" situation rather than just shooting balls as quickly as they can whilst stood perfectly still.

Real, deadly aim in gaming comes from being able to not only react accurately (above all else) and with high speed wherever possible, but also from being able to combine your tracking aim, movement, positioning, game-sense, dodging and strafing to be able to keep your aim on the enemy whilst making it as hard as possible to predict or track your own movement for your opponent. People train the wrong things thinking that if they can emulate a pro's ability at popping balloons in an "aim-trainer" where they're stood still then that will translate into being some God-tier player when they play CSGO or whatever else - these same people then get a rude awakening when they realise there's only a handful of scenarios in any competitive FPS game where you are going to be stood still staring at one spot needing to react with just moving your aim and not also manoeuvring your player-model so you aren't shot in return when you inevitably miss a flick.

just a general piece of advice for aim training is that you wanna stay at a speed slightly higher then comfortable. So basically, every time u get comfortable at a certain speed, go a tiny bit faster until that tiny bit faster speed now becomes ur new normal/comfortable speed. For example, lets say speed is a scale of 1-100, 100 being literal aimbot, 95 being a pro kovaaks/aim labs player 90 being tenz, 50 being ur average fps player with decent experience (like a plat player) 20 being someone new to fps (bronze or iron) and 0 being ur an amputee. now lets say that u aim at a level of 58, u would wanna aim train at a level of 59-60 until ur now a 60 speed level player, as soon as u feel that this new slight speed boost is now just ur regular speed, up it again. Dont worry about score. Focus on being consistent, and focus on improvement.

Bardpill method: you flick on the direction of the target, underflicking is advised and then you micro-adjust your crosshair to it. You must not miss more than 5 times in a run. Its slow at first but you will see a really fast improvement on your flicks. I was getting constant 86k on sixshot and a week after this method i now can easily surpass 110k sixshot score.
When playing with a metronome its better to flick last second so that you dont make slow movements as that is not a realistic way youd flick an enemy.

Tbh I'd really suggest using modes like spider shot and reflex shot, and micro shot for flick training more often before using grid shot as grid shot is highly unrealistic since you allways know where orbs are before you switch to shoot it, thus not taking reaction speed into consideration.

Great video, and extremely true- all of my breakthroughs on the speed minigames have come from demanding accuracy of myself first and foremost. Also, the really hard and annoying mini games in the tracking category (which I’m terrible at) have imo been the most helpful, especially for improving at the semi auto weapons in valorant.

Used to be a silver2 (can't hit the broad side of a barn) and after about 120hrs I am at ruby4 (I still don't stand a chance against most players I fight) but I certainly noticed a change in my aim. This is exactly how I approached aim training when I started. I wouldn’t let my accuracy drop below 95% on aimlabs. So I went as fast as I could for 95+ percent and after 2 months I was able to hit a 101000 score

Before watching this video my highest score in gridshot ultimate was like 92,000. But early the next day I was able to get 102531. I tried slowing down, and then eventually my hand would go off! Almost like it was revving up or something. I changed my sens recently and that helped quite a lot. And I tried to do more doubles and triples, as well as think of them as groups/shapes so I could go through them faster. Thanks to your video I "ascended" my score.

Slow and steady wins the race.
Speed will always follow. When I had the time to be able to aim train, I would throw on some of my favorite music with minimal to no lyrics, and just focus on making each shot count. If you start seeing it as a case of you building up the physical muscle you need to aim, slowly building seems a lot more worth it.

I think engaging in gunfights in every game you pick up is the way to go. Your aim can be the best, but if you don't understand the timing, map awareness, and gunplay of the game your are playing, you will hit a wall. Especially in games with less than ideal hit reg. Imho, you want those easy chip shots, especially in ranked tac shooters where you are playing the pick against people your skill level or better. No matter how good your aim is, the sure shot is best shot.

Another thing I have found after playing FPS for nearly 20 years is that game sense is vital to aim. Aimlab is fine, but that is raw aim. In an actual game setting, your ability to read the opposition is key. If you know where they are coming, you pre aim most of your shots. While a sick flick is always fun and sexy, smart aim wins way more games and gets a ton more aces.

"Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast"
What can also help is sometimes going slightly faster than you're comfortable and then backing off a little. You sometimes end up faster than you're previous top speed. It's like stretching.
Also, take breaks! Do some hand/forearm stretches. Helps when you start to plateau.

Grid shot is a speed centric scenario. You’re not supposed to go slow with it. There are specific routines and scenarios that are made for precision.

when i first tried my score was 40k but still i think playing in gridshot wont be that useful but practicing on moving objects might be much more of a time worth investment

The first time I used aim lab I would only focus in my score and speed rather than precision, but I didn’t hit any shots with the wingman. Recently I switched my perspective and instead of focusing on my speed I would rather focus on the precision, its only valid if I score 95 percent or above, that’s my rule, after a week practising I was finally hitting my shot.

I approach aim labs the same way I approach drum rudiments.

Each 1 minute session consists of me starting at slow 100% accuracy, and gradually increasing up to fast 80-90% accuracy until 30 seconds, and then slowing back down to slow 100% accuracy for the second half.

Doing this gives you the best of both worlds. You get to hyper focus on accuracy for a bit, and then hyper focus on reactivity for a bit.

I consistently get about 95k, and occasionally slump in 85k and peak at around 100k. Though I average around 85%-88% accuracy, which is likely why my aim still feels terrible in VALORANT and i'm hovering at around Silver 3 - Gold 1. it's always better to start slower but be accurate, it's a mistake that a lot of new aim trainers make.. when you go fast but you're inaccurate you're building bad muscle memory. Always prioritize accuracy 1st before speed, the speed will come with time. Also I find that sometimes after training for a while my arm and wrist gets tired and I start to getting what I call "lazy arm" where I start undershooting the targets because I'm mostly using my wrist and fingers to aim (I use fingertip grip) instead of my arm as well. To help fix this what I do is turn my sensitivity way down so that I need to make bigger movements with my arm in order to reach the targets, I do this for a few minutes then turn my sensitivity back to normal which makes me feel a lot faster because now I have my arm more involved. I might overshoot for a min or so until I get readjusted, but it helps me correct the bad habit of getting "lazy" with my aim. You could do the same if you find yourself overshooting or find that your aim feels kind of "jittery" and inaccurate, just turn your sensitivity up for a few scenarios or a few mins then turn it back down to your regular sensitivity. Also when finding the right edpi (mouse dpi x sensitivity), consider what game you're mainly playing. For games like Valorant my edpi is much lower because I usually don't have to make a lot of big flicks with good crosshair placement, whereas when I used to play games like OW or Apex the movements are so much faster and you're consistently having to make large adjustments that I find that I played better with a higher edpi when I played those games. As a casual that just forces to play and hit nasty aimbot shots and missing it 100% of the time, I do find it hard to slow down and pace myself to a certain degree in training to get accurate. Any tips? I've been playing fps games for about 4 months and can't get better almost like my progress stopped.

Emphasis here on how EASY gridshot actually is. The targets are so big that it really doesn't require good accuracy to reach higher scores. If you only grind gridshot and think you're improving your overall aim it's just a placebo effect.There's many other scenarios in these aim trainers that are a lot more challenging and actually expose your aim weaknesses and help you improve. Gridshot should stay a benchmark.

My gridshot high score is only around 70k I think, but I only really use it as a warmup. Also just wanted to say that you make literally some of the best and highest quality valorant content :) glad I discovered you a couple of months ago!

I completely agree with this video. I switched to mouse and keyboard only 1 year ago and I already average over 100k on gridshot and my highscore is 110k. This is 100% the way to go about this. I did everything this guy said in this video and went from averaging 50k to now over 100k and my accuracy is usually 94%.

This makes sense when someone is first starting to learn how to aim, but if you already know how and want to increase the speed at which you can aim you need to work on going "Fast". If you never train speed you will never be fast, we need to make sure we understand that accuracy and speed are 2 totally different skills and we can't work on both at the same time we need to focus on them separately. It's like going to the gym and trying to get "bigger" and "shredded" at the same time you can't do it because you need to eat less to get shredded and eat more to get bigger... same thing with getting more accurate or getting faster. Great video but their is some disagreement in the sense that speed needs to be trained just as much as accuracy but keep them separate.

Many years ago when i started practicing with nunchucks and other martial arts weapons, the friend who got me into this hobby told me to start out slow to get the movements right before increasing speed. You dont want to program the wrong movements into the muscle memory, or the wrong techniques into your brain.

I don't use Aim Lab, but Aiming Pro - concept is still the same. When I started out I sought speed as a focus, and never made it past the rank I started in (competent). Then I carefully observed my stats given by AP (props to its creators and developers for the number of different aspects graphed!) and noticed my cursor speed was fast, but my tracking efficiency was crap - so started practicing my mouse tracking efficiency, i.e. how close and accurate an initial flick to a target is. That one stat alone has improved all my scores significantly in Aiming Pro, with my good days having 95% tracking efficiency as opposed to below 80% when I was a novice. I am now three ranks higher than when I joined, from competent now in adept which translates to aim in roughly the 96-97th percentile. Nowhere near TenZ's scores in Aim Lab which are ~100th percentile but Krunker is a meme for me now. My accuracy for the actual shot is now 94% versus 77%.

When I first started playing grid shot a few months ago my high score was 67k. After focusing more on precision than speed (and playing a lot of precision tasks in aimlab, now I can almost get 100k+ consecutively if I'm well warmed up and have a high score of 107k. Thx for putting this out for more people to see, since there's a lot of people playing gridshot every day with no success.

if u play point blank it might be useful for you to build speed, but in valorant or csgo i think accuracy and make sure you can kill your opponent are more important than just speed and flick. u can move your crosshair fast, but big possibility for bullets to not even hit the target

I honestly think using a metronome is bad. I didn't try it yet but when the flick distance is higher you should take more time, otherwise it means you are actually going faster than usual and the result is missing the target compared to a shorter flick done at the same time. So time should be more dynamic based on the distance in my opinion.

a tactic I found that works well with me is to use an auto clicker to click about 100ms slower than my average kill time, so that way you have to be on the orb at that exact time with no human error in the timing.

I’ve just started using aim lab and whilst I do focus on getting faster at grid shot I never let myself dip below 90%...as soon as I notice myself even approaching 90 I start to slow down a little...started to naturally get faster in a few days whilst maintaining that level of accuracy which feels v nice...might start aiming for 95% now though after this vid

Idk if you'll see this @ValorantAscended but I also think a lot people are using aim labs and aim training in general wrong. I studied exercise science in college and started testing some of the things I was learning in class to my own aim training/ warmup. At the time I was surprised to learn how similar training my aim was to any other kind of bodily training. This led me to drawing the conclusion that, Aim labs can and does help with aiming in general but, the only way to become very good at a game is Intentional practice of That game.

The problem with gridshot is that after a certain threshold you really aren't improving WITH gridshot anymore, you're improving AT gridshot. Those people with 100k+ scores get so far by clicking in a rhythm, which helps with consistency, accuracy, and flow but is obviously useless outside of gridshot-esque minigames.

Set a score that’s low and every time you hit that score increase speed by half a second. That’s what we did in CSGO back in the day when I was playing on a team. It’s how you learn everything. once you get competent at that then make smaller targets. And then once you can do that at your fastest, repeat for all angles and positions, and continue to do this for months and months until it’s second nature.

Happy to hear this and I thought it was obvious, but maybe not... My accuracy is always my priority and I've only been on PC since the end of Jan 2022, never played on PC or LAptop in my life, coming from mobile. I'm consistently hitting above 99% accuracy. My results training 1h a day for 7 days = Flicking 47% | Tracking 53% | Speed 68% | Precision 50% | Perception 0.1% | Cognition 62% (I'm aiming to get good enough to start streaming my own FPS gameplay)

Very good point. Aim Lab is about improving by keeping your accuracy the same while slowly making the exercises faster. Gridshot isn`t a best one te be honest, there are some more useful "flicking" games like Sixshot, Hordeshot, Headshot or Wallpeek Intermediate. Gridshot is some sort of "flexing" with your abilities and that what is making a bad habit, people watch top players hitting 120k or more with huge speed and they try to replicate it. But only thing they should replicate is the accuracy. At the moment, my record is 104k. I`m trying to keep my accuracy on at least 92% for this one particurally.
And I forgot to mention, it`s very good to use some music with good bpm for doing it so you can try to connect that with your speed on exercise. There are plenty of playlists on youtube, most of them are pretty good for it.

It didn't work for me in CS and it doesn't work for me in Valorant. What does work for me is being really aware of the map, crosshair placement and awareness potential spots for enemies to be likely hiding. Practising on headshotting bots just makes my play worse since then I'm only focussed on getting amazing headshots, whilst not being aware of my surroundings and enemy positions. I like to do it sometimes to warm-up my muscle memory... but that's it.

The problem with Aim Lab is - as you already said - that focusing on speed over accuracy will nearly always get you more points. So I'm super happy I watched your video, sub much deserved.

not necessarily, you'll be capped if you focus solely on speed, and you'll be stuck there having hard time to improve bcuz your accuracy will be probably under 90%
focusing on accuracy will put you in zone where you will confidently increase your speed while not even focusing on it but focusing solely on accuracy.

Same applies to building muscles. If you increase the weights too fast,you develop a bad form. In the end you will gain less muscles than you would by using lower weights, but perform the exercises with good form.

Yeah had this thought while training just use it to warmup your hand and arm muscles… dont focus on score then gradually get faster and which should lead to gradual improvement over time. Will try to start going slower thx

The secret is to get to perfect accuracy at a comfortable middle pace, then gradually decrease the speed using a metronome while trying to land each shot exactly in time with the metronome.
The slower you go, the more your brain focuses on the timing and this causes your brain to learn accuracy orders of magnitude faster.
Then when you go back to the comfortable middle pace you started at, you'll find it's much easier to increase the tempo without losing accuracy.
You might need to go through the cycle a few times, but once you get it you will surprise yourself. Try it.

If each aim trainer was going off of accuracy and speed of execution, you would have to be accurate first to even score at all, maybe like an Osu! system where it rewards accuracy more than speed (Osu! is obviously timed but consecutive hit score multiplier)

In aim lab, I've recently reached top 6.5% in precision, which I'm personally proud of, but I'm in the top 38% of speed. When I look at the reaction time of the top 100 in leaderboards, its always between 100-150ms. Even if I just play the one where I have to press a button when I see an orb (or hear a sound) I've never been able to break 200s. I think my best is around 215 or so. I'm sure being in my 40s doesnt help either, but I wonder if I can ever get my RT down or if it is something you permanently lose with age

Im glad I realized that from the start. I always tried to stay at 97% and the speed NATURALLY increased without me even trying. Got from 50k to 80k in like 2 months and then up to 120k a month later. All with 97% accuracy. Too bad I stopped playing for almost 2 years after that hahahah

I have 5 hours in aimlab and my current record is 90000 so it shouldnt be too long till i hit the 5 digit mark. Gotta say practicing speed helped me with my muscle memory but practicing accucracy helped me fix my uncomfortable flicks and small micro adjustments

totally agree with this guy, focus on accuracy and form first (the motion of your mouse, shrap and clean line of horizontal,diagonal and vertical mouse movement) first then speed will come naturally. initially i got 65000+ score on gridshot and trying to maintain on 90+ percent accuracy, proceed into 3 months later. i got 90000+ score and still maintain the same 90+ percent accuracy.

Much like with typing, accuracy comes first. With good accuracy, speed follows on it's own.
EDIT: as a further statatement, don't just practice, practice with a PURPOSE, no matter what you are practicing.

Yes. Practice slowly, mindfully, and correctly. Bad habits are easy to overcome at the beginning, but as you become practiced, it gets harder and harder to correct.
