this is all the muck I learned from you
all these things I know, I never wished for you to show
all these things I know, I got from you
I'm so glad you're here, I've really missed you
(I could say a few things, but I'm shy)
Heaven sent you here, and I can send you right back, dear
heaven knows I've got a thing or two
All these things I have, I'd never live through
This feeling I have couldn't be for real
heaven sent you here, and I can send you right back, dear
heaven knows I've learned a thing or two
The lyrics of Airiel's song Sharron Apple convey a sense of disillusionment and resentment towards a former lover or relationship that has left the singer with unwanted knowledge and experiences. The opening verses suggest that the person in question has taught the singer negative things, perhaps unintentionally, and that the singer never wanted to learn them in the first place. The repetition of "all these things I know" reinforces the feeling that the singer has been burdened by their past experiences and is struggling to move on.
Despite this, the chorus suggests that the singer still has strong feelings for their former lover, as they express happiness at their presence and a desire to be loved in return. The line "heaven sent you here, and I can send you right back, dear" is particularly impactful, as it suggests that the singer is in control of the relationship and could end it just as easily as it began. This sense of power is balanced by a vulnerability and tenderness in the final lines, as the singer admits that their feelings may not be entirely genuine, but they still crave love and connection.
Overall, the lyrics of Sharron Apple are complex and emotionally charged, conveying a mix of anger, resignation, and longing. The song offers a nuanced depiction of how past experiences can shape our present selves, and how even negative relationships can leave a lasting impact.
