Last year Akurat gave almost 100 concerts becoming one of the most popular college groups. Their main asset is unique unpretentious style escaping classification. Some link them to reggae legends like Daab and Gedeon Jerubal and even to UB40. To others they are the heirs of the independent stars like Mr.Zoob, Kazik and Kult. AKURAT created their own recognizable style. Their music has loads of positive energy and reflects the joy of playing. It’s a mixture of rock with a solid dose of ska music and intriguing lyrics perfectly describing reality.
AKURAT was set up in November 1994 in Bielsko-Biała – the city in southern Poland called “the second Cracow” - by students with different professional aspirations - graphic designers, a filmmaker, an actor and two ”educated” musicians. The members of the band did not change and they are - Tomasz Kłaptocz (vocals, trumpet), Piotr Wróbel and Wojciech Żółty (guitars), Przemysław Zwias (saxophone, flute), Ireneusz Wojnar (bass) and Łukasz Gocal (drums). Their career begun with a few amateur contests, which brought them prizes (in Bielsko and Andrychów). Later they made their way to Przystanek Woodstock festival in Żary, where they performed three times (in 1998, 1999 and 2001) for thousands of people. They also gave concerts in Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2001 AKURAT recorded their first album ”Pomarańcza” (Orange) – with hits: ”Hahaczyk”, ”Espania”, ”Droga długa jest” (Long is the road) and ”Lubię mówić z Tobą” (I like talking with you). Their next album ”Prowincja” (Province) was issued with their own resources and despite of little promotion turned out to be a success – singles ”Wiej-ska” and ”Do prostego człowieka” (To the simple man) – were on charts in independent radio stations.
Charismatic vocalist, great sound of brass, excellent guitarists and efficient rhythmic section are the main assets of the band, which will publish their new album “Fantasmagorie” (Fantasmagories) in late spring ‘2006. The album, with no doubt, will bring them right to the top of the Polish music scene.

Wybory już się zbliżają
To co mówią teraz
Później zapominają (x2)
Czas najwyższy wywlec aferę
Pokazać zdjęcie z samym premierem
Stanąć na scenie, zrobić wrażenie
Mówią dużo mówią
Wybory już się zbliżają
To co mówią teraz
Później zapominają (x2)
Jeśli zagraża ktoś nie daj Boże
W jedynym wolnym i słusznym wyborze
Wybielaj siebie, oczerniaj innych
Puszczaj przestępców, wsadzaj niewinnych (x2)
Ludzie to kupią, ludzie to lubią
Wolne wybory są już niedługo
Jeśli obiecasz, jeśli poprosisz
Oddadzą głosy na ślepe losy (x2)
The song "Ślepe Losy" by Akurat discusses the topic of political manipulation and propaganda during election periods. The lyrics suggest that politicians use flowery language and make promises during their campaign, but once they are elected, they forget about their promises and focus on their own interests. The song also criticizes politicians who use smear campaigns against their opponents and target innocent people while protecting criminals.
The first two verses repeat the phrase "they talk a lot, they talk a lot, elections are approaching, what they say now, they forget later." This suggests the idea that politicians make a lot of promises but do not fulfill them once they are elected. The following verse urges people to expose corruption during elections by revealing pictures with the Prime Minister, making an impression on stage, and featuring themselves on TV. The fourth verse warns against politicians who resort to libel or falsely accusing others, and those who manipulate the free election process to maintain power.
The chorus repeats the phrase "people will buy it, people will like it, free elections are coming soon, if you promise, if you ask, they will cast their votes for blind fate." This conveys the message that some voters can easily be swayed by the politician's image and false promises.
Overall, the song highlights a lack of accountability and transparency in the political system during election periods. It encourages people to pay attention to actions, rather than empty words, before casting their votes.
