Faded
Alan Walker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You were the shadow to my light
Did you feel us?
Another star
You fade away
Afraid our aim is out of sight
Wanna see us
Alight
Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Was it all in my fantasy?
Where are you now?
Were you only imaginary?
Where are you now?

Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now?
Another dream
The monster's running wild inside of me

I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded

These shallow waters never met what I needed
I'm letting go
A deeper dive
Eternal silence of the sea
I'm breathing
Alive

Where are you now?
Where are you now?

Under the bright
But faded lights
You set my heart on fire
Where are you now?
Where are you now?

Where are you now?
Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now?
Another dream
The monster's running wild inside of me
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded

So lost
I'm faded

Overall Meaning

The song "Faded" was released by Norwegian DJ Alan Walker in 2015. The lyrics in "Faded" appear to address feelings of loneliness and longing for someone who is no longer present. The repeated line "Where are you now?" conveys a sense of searching for something that is lost. The first verse begins with the lines "You were the shadow to my light, did you feel us?" suggesting that there was a close relationship that has now come to an end. The following lines "Another start, you fade away, afraid our aim is out of sight, wanna see us alight" suggests that there may have been previous attempts at making things work, but they have failed.

The second verse introduces the idea of Atlantis, which is a mythical underwater city that has captivated the imagination of many people. Atlantis is often associated with mystery and the unknown, which may parallel the sense of loss and uncertainty expressed in the song. The line "The monster's running wild inside of me" suggests that the feeling of isolation is overwhelming and uncontrollable.

Overall, the lyrics in "Faded" appear to be about a person who is struggling to come to terms with the end of a relationship. The repeated question "Where are you now?" suggests that the person is searching for closure or longing for a deeper connection. The references to Atlantis and the monster can be interpreted as metaphors for the mysterious, uncharted territory of the human heart.

@Rousseau

Faded. Alan Walker. Four years ago, as 'Fade', this is the track that started it all. I still remember the excitement of hearing Faded on the radio for the first time, it was a huge deal for a producer mainly known on YouTube to break into the mainstream. Four years later and here we are. In honor of the track (and Alan Walker), I wrote a little arrangement to celebrate the release.

@Hanjizen

nice colour for the systhesia, this actually brought a tear to my eye, expressionless. Thanks Rousseau, for making me feel better.
