Coincidentally, Samael's current vocalist/guitarist Vorph did vocals on the 1990 demo "Black Wedding" and Masmiseim (Christophe Mermod) played bass for the group before joining Samael in 1992. Former Alastis drummer Acronoise (b. Laurent Mermod) is also Masmiseim's brother.
They have had a successful, well-raved discography over their thirty one year career. However, their most recent 2001 album entitled "Unity" had no press or news release available since, and sources differ widely as to the current status of the band.
Ecstasy
Alastis Lyrics

Brazen in front of Unknown
Others believe we're possessed
Dive into your dreams
Enter the ecstasy
Some believe we're dominated
Others believe we're the Devil
Dive into your fantasies
Dive into your dreams
Enter the ecstasy
Some believe we're devoted
Pawns on a chessboard
Other know we're back
Dive into the light
Enter the ecstasy
The lyrics of Alastis’s song “Ecstasy” seem to address the different perceptions that people have of others. It appears that these perceptions are being viewed through a negative lens as there is a clear dichotomy between those who see others as “innocent” and “devoted” versus those who see them as “possessed” and “dominated”. The singer is almost daring the Unknown to make a judgment call, that those who are perceived as naive are actually in a state of heightened consciousness, or what the song refers to as “ecstasy”.
The lyrics are almost encouraging listeners to embrace their inner selves and attack their personal demons, thereby achieving the elusive state of “ecstasy”. This puts forth the idea that those who are misunderstood are the ones who are actually enlightened. The singers, speaking on behalf of themselves and others like them, are placing themselves in opposition to the norm and even daring the Unknown to acknowledge the beauty of the “ecstasy” that their state of being produces.
In conclusion, Alastis's "Ecstasy" encourages people to embrace their true selves and fight their personal demons to achieve heightened states of consciousness. It challenges common perceptions of society and boldly asserts that those who are misunderstood are actually enlightened. It offers a poignant commentary on human nature, perception, and recognition.
