Alejate
Albert Hammond Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Albert Hammond's song "Alejate" (meaning "Go away" in Spanish) tell a story of heartbreak and acceptance. The singer recounts that they have never felt so much love in their soul as they did for the person they are addressing in the song. However, despite loving this person deeply, they have come to the realization that saying goodbye is the better option. They will suffer for this decision, but they must find the strength to move on from this relationship. The singer reflects on their past, promising not to regret loving this person, and acknowledging that they must learn to be strong and move on.
The tone of the song is melancholic and reflective, with a sense of resignation in the chorus. The singer pleads with the person to go away, saying that they cannot go back in time, and must accept the end of the relationship. The lyrics are poignant and heartfelt, expressing the universal feelings of heartbreak, loss and acceptance. The melody is simple and haunting, adding to the emotional depth of the song.
