Alceu Valenca was born in countryside Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. He is considered the most successful artist in achieving an aesthetic balance between traditional northeastern Brazilian music and a broad range of electronic sounds and effects from pop music. One can find traces of maracatu, coco and "repentes de viola" (improvising fast-paced Brazilian folk music) in most of his songs. Alceu was able to utilize the electric guitar the electric bass, and lately even a synthesizer was added to his broad scope of musical instruments.
Because of that, Alceu was able to recreate Northeastern traditional music, like baiao, coco, toada, maracatu, frevo, caboclinhos, embolada and repentes: all sung with a sometimes rock sometimes alternative sounding music background. His music and his themes are intangible, universal and unlimited. However, his aesthetic basis is genuinely Brazilian Northeastern music.

Fica o dedo e fica o dado
Fica o feito e o desfeito
O carinho e o cuidado
Fica a chama, fica a vela
Fica a casa e fica a rua
A toalha na janela
Linda, caminhavas nua
Amor que fica é amor que fica
Fica a cama, fica o quarto
Um retrato e uma figa
Duas mãos e não mais quatro
Duas vidas divididas
The lyrics of "Amor Que Fica" by Alceu Valença are profound and emotional. The first verse describes the things that are left behind after a relationship ends. The things that were said and unsaid, the things that were done and undone, the love and care that were given and received, all of these things remain. The second verse talks about the things that remain in a relationship that has survived. The bed and the room, a photo and a good luck charm, two hands and no longer four, two lives that have been shared.
The chorus of the song, "Amor que fica é amor que fica" translates to "Love that stays is love that stays". This simple line reinforces the message of the song: that the love that remains after a relationship has ended, or the love that survives through difficult times, is the truest and strongest kind of love.
Overall, "Amor Que Fica" is a powerful reminder that love is not just about the good times, but also about the challenges that two people face together. It celebrates the endurance of love, even when it is difficult and painful.
