Alceu Valenca was born in countryside Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. He is considered the most successful artist in achieving an aesthetic balance between traditional northeastern Brazilian music and a broad range of electronic sounds and effects from pop music. One can find traces of maracatu, coco and "repentes de viola" (improvising fast-paced Brazilian folk music) in most of his songs. Alceu was able to utilize the electric guitar the electric bass, and lately even a synthesizer was added to his broad scope of musical instruments.
Because of that, Alceu was able to recreate Northeastern traditional music, like baiao, coco, toada, maracatu, frevo, caboclinhos, embolada and repentes: all sung with a sometimes rock sometimes alternative sounding music background. His music and his themes are intangible, universal and unlimited. However, his aesthetic basis is genuinely Brazilian Northeastern music.

Morena, eu te desejo
Quando a vida inventou o desejo
O desejo, num outro desejo, se transformou
O desejo não pára, o desejo não cansa
É o moto cintínuo que a vida inventou
Essa vida cigana, o caminhador
O desejo não pára, o desejo não cansa
É o moto contínuo que a vida inventou
The lyrics to "Desejo" by Alceu Valença describe a deep longing and desire for someone. The opening lines "Te desejo, morena, eu te desejo" translate to "I desire you, dark-skinned woman, I desire you." The song goes on to explore the concept of desire and how it is a never-ending force that drives us. The lyrics suggest that desire is what moves love forward, and that it is an essential part of the human experience.
The song also delves into the idea that desire is an inherent part of life itself. The lines "Quando a vida inventou o desejo, o desejo num outro desejo se transformou" suggest that desire was created by life itself and is constantly transforming and evolving. The lyrics go on to say that desire is unstoppable and never tires, "O desejo não pára, o desejo não cansa, é o moto contínuo que a vida inventou."
Overall, "Desejo" is a poetic and insightful exploration of the human experience of desire. It suggests that desire is what moves us forward in life, whether it be in love or in pursuing our dreams.
