Alceu Valenca was born in countryside Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. He is considered the most successful artist in achieving an aesthetic balance between traditional northeastern Brazilian music and a broad range of electronic sounds and effects from pop music. One can find traces of maracatu, coco and "repentes de viola" (improvising fast-paced Brazilian folk music) in most of his songs. Alceu was able to utilize the electric guitar the electric bass, and lately even a synthesizer was added to his broad scope of musical instruments.
Because of that, Alceu was able to recreate Northeastern traditional music, like baiao, coco, toada, maracatu, frevo, caboclinhos, embolada and repentes: all sung with a sometimes rock sometimes alternative sounding music background. His music and his themes are intangible, universal and unlimited. However, his aesthetic basis is genuinely Brazilian Northeastern music.

Camaleão das foiage
Carrego as moça no bolso
E as véia na pabulage"
(DP - texto de Pastoril)
Quando estou escorregando
No seu corpo gemedor
Meu pife tem esse sabor de pecado
Escorregado lambuzado gemedor
Balança bole remexe gostoso
Meu jeito é manhoso de te assoprar
Balança bole remexe gostoso
Meu jeito é dengoso de te dedilhar
The lyrics of Alceu Valença's song Escorregando No Pífano are full of metaphors and imagery related to the sounds and movements of music - specifically, music played on the pífano, a type of flute used in traditional Brazilian music. The opening lines, "Eu sou o Véio quiabo, Camaleão das foiage, Carrego as moça no bolso, E as véia na pabulage" ("I am the Old Okra, Chameleon of the foliage, I carry the girls in my pocket, And the old ladies in the bushes"), establish a playful and somewhat irreverent tone, using slang and regional expressions to describe the singer's role as a musician and entertainer. The references to carrying girls in his pocket and old ladies in the bushes suggest a double entendre of sexual innuendo.
