Richards was born on January 2, 1992 in Sta.Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. In May 2013, he released his debut album, Alden Richards (EP), under Universal Records. And in October 2015, he released his first full-length album, Wish I May, under GMA records.

He is best known as the other half of the phenomenal love team, "AlDub," that is currently featured in the "Juan For All, All For One" segment of the longest variety show in the Philippines, "Eat Bulaga!"
