Dark Blue
Alex Goot Lyrics

I don't (don't know) what you could possibly expect of this condition so
I'll wait (I'll wait) for the ambulance to come (ambulance to come)
Pick us up off the floor
tell me how anybody thinks under this condition so
Slow down.. this night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue (dark blue)
I said the world could be burning just burning down
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning 'til there's nothing but dark blue..
Have you ever been alone
This flood (this flood) is slowly rising up swallowing the ground
Beneath my feet, tell me how anybody thinks under this condition so
I'll swim (I'll swim) as the water rises up, the sun is sinking down
And now all I can see are the planets in a row
Suggesting it's best that I slow down
Slow down.. this night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room when I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning just burning down
Dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning 'til there's nothing but
We were boxing
We were boxing the stars
We were boxing
You were swinging for Mars
And then the water reached the West Coast
And took the power lines (the power lines)
And it was me and you
And the whole town under water
There was nothing we could do
It was dark blue
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning just burning down
Dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the room could be burning now there's nothing but dark blue
If you've ever been alone you'll know (you'll know)...
The lyrics to Alex Goot's song "Dark Blue" express a sense of overwhelming emotions that are weighing down on the singer. In the first verse, Goot sings of feeling pressured and suffocated, with someone breathing down his neck. He doesn't know what's expected of him in this situation, but he's willing to wait for an ambulance to come pick them up off the floor. The second verse speaks to a flood that's slowly rising up and swallowing the ground beneath his feet. Goot talks about how the sun is sinking down and all he can see are the planets in a row, which suggests that he needs to slow down.
The chorus uses the color dark blue as a metaphor for the singer's state of mind. It's a deep and intense color that reflects his emotions, which are amplified when he's alone in a crowded room. The world feels like it's burning down around him, and he's drowning in a flood of emotions. He and his partner were once hopeful, boxing the stars and swinging for Mars, but now they're helpless in the face of disaster. The final verse describes a catastrophic event where the water reaches the West Coast and takes out the power lines. Goot and his partner are left alone in a town submerged in water, with nothing to do but wait it out.
Overall, "Dark Blue" is a poignant and emotive song that captures the struggle of dealing with overwhelming emotions. It's a reminder that we're not alone in our struggles, even when we feel like we're drowning.
