She's So High
Alex Goot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
No tucks or silicone
She's touch, smell, sight, taste, and sound
But somehow I can't believe
That anything should happen
I know where I belong
And nothin's going to happen (Yeah-he)
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphrodite
aku hu hu hu
she's so high - high above me
First class and fancy free
She's high society
She's got the best of everything
What could a guy like me ever really offer
She's perfect as she can be
Why should I even bother
Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphrodite
She's so high, high above me
Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphrodite
She's so high, high above me
In this song, Alex Goot expresses his admiration for a woman who is above his league. He describes her as "blood, flesh and bone, no tucks or silicone," meaning that she is natural and genuine. He engages all of his senses when experiencing her, but still cannot believe that anything should happen between them because he knows where he belongs. He mentions that she is high above him, portraying her as someone out of his reach, someone like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc or Aphrodite.
The chorus repeats itself several times, emphasizing the height of the woman's status. The second verse describes the woman as "first class and fancy free," indicating that she belongs to high society and has access to the best of everything. Goot recognizes the stark difference between his situation and hers, wondering what he could ever offer someone so perfect. Despite feeling inferior, he cannot help but admire her from afar, continuing to describe her as someone who is high above him, beyond his reach.
Overall, the song seems to depict unrequited love and the struggle to determine one's worth when admiring someone who is seemingly out of their league. Through the use of metaphors and descriptive language, Goot creates a sense of longing and admiration for the woman he cannot have.

A rare talent in the YouTube world. I spend all of about zero seconds a week on YouTube, but once I saw your work through a friend on Facebook, you seperated yourself from even the artists who originated the songs. You out-did the artists on Dark Blue, an incredible feat. When you inevitably sign by the X, remember your roots and the people here who appreciate your work. As long as I trust your voice is never rendered, you have an incredible future.

It's funny how at this time 10 years ago I felt nostalgia from a tall bachman cover. Imagine that being another 10 years now I feel the same nostalgia just from the cover being a classic..

Dear Alex, You've really got true talent. Please, for the sake of all your fans, keep going on. You are really quite amazing and the more covers you do, the more we fall in love with you. I know I'm already head over heals <3 Your capability to hit those high notes blew me away (although I know I shouldn't have expected anything else). And although I'm a fan of the original version of this song, I'm going to have to say your cover is better :] Thank you for sharing your lovely voice! :]
