Shelter from the Storm
Alex M.O.R.P.H. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well we all go down
To our caverns underground
And in our backyard caves
We'd hear the sirens sound

And we took it very well
When then black rains fell
When the dust came down around us
We were safe and sound

It was baby needs shoes
The PTA and barbeques
And it was two-handed touch
Out on the white house lawn

And we were nobody's fools
Fillin' in the swimming pools
We poured concrete and steel
When the neighbors had gone

Now we all live here together
Yes we all live here as one
Now we all share the comforts of a hole in the ground
And we all remember livin' in the sun

Here in the shelter
We heard nuclear freeze
We heard first-strike strategies
We heard how to pay the taxman

When the big one falls
We heard good guys and bad guys
We heard little lies and big lies
About who comes out the winners

And it's not that bad at all
When a madman gets a gun
He's gonna point it at someone
If it's up in texas tower

Or over there across the pond
And if you step on his pride
Or if he hurts somewhere inside
He might let one fly

When his nerves are gone
Now we all live here together
Yes we all live here as one
Now we all share the comforts of a hole in the ground

And we all remember livin' in the sun
Here in the shelter

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Shelter from the Storm" describe life in underground bunkers during a time of threat from nuclear war. The first verse paints a picture of people retreating underground during times of warning, seeking refuge from the outside world. The second verse describes life in the days before the threat became imminent, with references to everyday activities such as playing touch football and pouring concrete around the neighborhood.

The chorus, "Now we all live here together / Yes we all live here as one / Now we all share the comforts of a hole in the ground / And we all remember livin' in the sun / Here in the shelter," reflects a sense of camaraderie among the inhabitants of the bunkers - they are all in this together, and their shared experience gives them a sense of unity. The third verse is more ominous, acknowledging the realities of living in a world where war is a constant threat. The people in the bunkers have heard all manner of news and rumors about the state of the world outside, including strategies for attack and the possibility of nuclear holocaust. The song ends by returning to the chorus, hammering home the idea that the inhabitants of the bunkers are in a unique situation, isolated from the rest of the world but united with each other.

Overall, "Shelter from the Storm" is a haunting depiction of life during a time of war and uncertainty. The lyrics speak to the primal human urge to seek shelter and protection, but also to the resilience and camaraderie that can be found in the face of adversity.

You are the one who fills me up with colours,
Who burns the sky for me,
Boy, don’t you see,
Sun shines brighter when you are near…

But it’s like no one else on the earth,
Your smile, your touch, your lips,
The hopes I was thinking in,
Your love was given me…

To the heaven…

Good guy Alex M.O.R.P.H.
Doesn't give in to the big room EDM fad and instead sticks to what he's best at, producing classic, uplifting Trance music.
Are there really so many people disliking this? If you seriously prefer big room house over this, then you truly have low standards for music.

@Hlemguard

Never doubt uncle Alex. People dislike this beacause mainstream music is easier to digest, from which I believe most of them lack IQ (yeah, sorry). You know the drill: eat, spleep, rave, repeat.........

@kennethbartholomew7449

sticking to one genre seems to be boring

@ashwinchakilum8468

Well, this genre certainly has higher quality, more creative music than big room/commercial EDM that most electronic dance musicians have moved on towards.

Besides, Trance is kinda the thing you'd expect Alex M.O.R.P.H. to do, and do well.  I'd be psyched if he tried to take on other styles like Liquid DnB/Dubstep.  I can imagine him executing that very well, just as long as he doesn't confirm to the god awful commericial/big room EDM that's being produced by the once great Trance artists nowadays.

@matheusab

Ashwin Chakilum I wouldn't say it's more creative, but the quality is, indeed, higher.

@ThatGuy-ep7xq

Ashwin Chakilum I don't think this is uplifting trance.
