I have had 2 cosmetic procedures in Mexico with excellent results, i did my research and i found several doctors that were certified in plastic surgery. I had my appointments, exams and follow ups with no problems. In many countries there are the same certification rules for any medical speciality just like here in US.... You have to do your research!!.

Mke mke My mother went to the Dominican Republic to get dental surgery. here in jersey the doctors were charging her almost 23,000 dollars. In the DR she only had to pay 5,000 dollars for the same procedure. Before she went to the DR she actually did her research, she met with a dental surgeon who studied in Germany, and who is also licensed in Germany, unlike those other third rate doctors. She came back and everything is fine, I heard that same doctor has a lot of clients from different countries, his name is Julio Leimberg.

Rest In Peace. So scary. But the American doctor saying you don’t know who your surgeon will be or that you don’t know if they are board certified is a lie. Anybody can check to see if the doctor is certified. And you pick your doctor before you go out there. 😒

Im sorry to hear this woman lost her life and I wish her family members to remember her well. This was caused by Vanity and pure seflish interest and this is not real surgery but an elective procedure done in haste and on the cheap in D.R. Clearly, not a well thought out plan. My condolences to the family, friends and loved ones.

Do you know that complication happens every where - in every hospital to any doctor doing any procedure to any patient . True that malpractice happens but do you know that your elite board certified Plastic surgeons actually travel to Countries to learn from non board certified surgeons - once they come back they prescribe the rules of how it should be done . America is really the best place to find the best liars too ....

First of all, a doctor in US told her, You need to loose weight before a lipo... She wanted it anyway... A doctor in US will avoid tu be sued, in DR a law Sue is not common, they will tell you is not recommend but if you want let's do it.. She asked for another bit of info, she was Dominican nationalized, but a head title like: another American dead in DR sell more news you get it??

there is nothing, in particular, going on in Dominican Republic.the sad truth of the world is people die, from lots of reaons everywhere. rates of tourist deaths are down in Dominican republic this year,. but all the deaths that do happen are being encouraged to be reported on by any networks connected to the Sinclair group. this is becuase of a new vacation visa travel program that dominican repiblic made with china. that deal means the united states has slightly less leverage over domincan republic financially. the mandatory new broadcasts for every death is now being reported to damage tourism and to encourage dom rep to renege on its travel deal with china.

As far as cosmetic surgeries, You can’t afford it, then don’t do it. When it comes to plastic surgery you get what you pay for. Top-tier well-known surgeons with lots of experience is going to be more expensive. Also, Most places have clauses in place where if so many patients die you will lose your license. There’s no such thing in the DR I guarantee.

@Tristan I agree, it IS less expensive in third wold countries because they don't have high malpractice costs for doctors, lower taxes, much lower cost to become a plastic surgeon, fewer regulations, etc. It's not the plastic surgeon that is so expensive, but the system that that physician has to work in. That being said, it's much cheaper to pay out of pocket in the USA for a tummy tuck than it is to have you gallbladder removed. The costs for "covered" medical care has skyrocketed in the last decade while costs for cosmetic surgery have stayed about the same or even decreased. Lasik surgery costs have plummeted.

Actually, cosmetic surgeries have stayed the same or even gone down over the last 10-15 years in the United States. Why? Because they are not covered by third-party payers (health insurance). Choice and competition have kept prices low for patients. Same can be said about Lasik eye surgery. What has become outrageously expensive is regular heath insurance and the exorbitant amounts that hospitals and their executive are paid because of the crazy system we have. Obamacare made the problem even worse with the government interfering. That said, these types of surgeries are cheaper in third world countries, but buyer beware.
