Sister Wife
Alex Winston Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So, one thing led to another
You're calling her our lover
My brother's her brother
And if you want me to do it, I
guess that I'll do it, but
I'm telling you
One wrong move and yeah we're through
Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my life
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

Yeah, man, kick out the logic
With you as the prophet
I don't think you got this
And holy as our father
I'd rather not bother, I
and I'm telling you
One wrong move and we're through

Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

I'm stuck with two
I'm stuck with you
I'm stuck with two
I'm stuck with

Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night

You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Alex Winston's song "Sister Wife" depict a love triangle between the singer, her brother, and his girlfriend. The singer refers to the girlfriend as a "sister wife," a term used in certain polygamous societies to describe two or more women who are married to the same man. The singer seems to be in a jealous and possessive state, warning her brother's girlfriend to stay away from him, claiming that she knows him better than she does. The lyrics suggest that the singer's relationship with her brother may be strained if he chooses to stay with his girlfriend over his sister.

The lyric "kick out the logic/with you as the prophet/I don't think you got this" implies that the girlfriend is making unreasonable demands or decisions. The use of religious imagery, such as "holy as our father," suggests that the girlfriend may be interpreting their situation in a way that is incompatible with the singer's values or beliefs. The repetition of the line "one wrong move and we're through" throughout the song emphasizes the fragility of their relationships and the high stakes of the situation.

Overall, the lyrics of "Sister Wife" portray a complicated and emotionally charged situation, highlighting the tensions that can arise from a relationship involving multiple people. The song's catchy melody and lively instrumental accompaniment contrast with the darker themes of jealousy and possessiveness, creating an engaging and thought-provoking listening experience.

Matter of opinion & obviously I love this one as well! I didn't say I liked the cover better just said that it was sick! This is beyond that! Music does that a R&B artist covering this is amazzzing because that means to some of us music is universal it sees no color or sex or preference. One love stay up be blessed.
