Alexander East is among the ever growing list of talent that continues to take the electronic community by storm here in the U.S. and abroad internationally. If youβre not quite familiar with his name, then most assuredly you would recognize his voice from either his featured appearances on tracks from Jake Childs, Jay J, or Derrick Carter just to name a few, but on his own releases that have been bumping dance floors for more than a decade now. Born in Brooklyn, New York Alexander knew he had a purpose beyond description when it came to his ever growing βhobbyβ of music. When he was young he taught himself how to play many different musical instruments and sing. While growing up, his family had moved to quite a number of places in the Midwest, including Ohio and Minneapolis where he currently resides. It was during these early years in the between places where he gained the opportunity to spend a significant time around many different recording studios, where he learned how to produce and engineer his own works for future release. Although he was initially all about producing hip hop, it was during the early 1990βs where house music other forms of electronic began pulling him into the realm that he is known from today. In 1994, he began djing and working within the underground community, producing his own tracks on the side to start. By 1997, Alexanderβs first track βGold Dust Goodies v1β was released in a limited capacity through his very own label Planet East Recordings. It wasnβt until the releases of βHazy Shade of Loveβ (in a collaborative effort w/Underground Construction) & the tracks βDeeper Shadesβ & βJest For Meβ (both released in 2000 & 2001 in a collaborative effort w/Afterhours Records) that gained the attention of Derrick Carter, who not only helped break these releases, but remixed βJest 4 Meβ for a re-release as well. Alexanderβs tracks and efforts have been used on various compilation and mixed CDs through a multitude of Labels from the likes of Afterhours, NRK, Nordic Trax, DJ Magazine, Fabric, Promo Only, Aroma, Blockhead, Swank, Amenti, OM Records and recently Defected Music. From 2001 to the present Alexander East has continued to blaze forth a path for himself within this industry, gaining notoriety though both his vocals on collaborative efforts and remixes with fellow producers Jimpster, JT Donaldson, Atnarko, Rick Preston, Swirl People and Olivier Desmet. His current chart topper βBelieve En Meβ (with remixes from Lawnchair Generals) and his latest re-release βSo Hiβ (with remixes by Chuck Love & Bryan Gerrard) takes this talented musician to yet another level with a body of work that is nothing short of fantastic! One thing is certain with a talent like Alexander Eastβ¦.you are just beginning to scratch the surface with his music!!!
