Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
with which he composed three studio albums:

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (2013)
Alexander Ebert released a solo album in 2011 titled "Alexander"
In 2013 he composed the soundtrack for the movie "All is Lost" starring Robert Redford.
Also in 2013 he won a Grammy with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros for the video / documentary Big Easy Express.
January 12, 2014 Alex Ebert was honored with a Golden Globe for best soundtrack in a movie, "All is Lost"

I'm really not lighthearted kinda guy and I rarely get moved by a movie, or a song for that matter, but when the poor guy in the movie was lying down in his life boat and started crying, with his hands on his head, because of the storm I was so touched that, at that moment, I would do ANYTHING to help him. This song only made it harder for me.
For all of you who haven't watched the movie yet, trust me, it's worth your money and time! Especially if you're into ''sad'' movies - Titanic ain't no where NEAR this thing.
