Addicted
Alexis Strum Lyrics

I'm a junkie
Oh, sorry
You can cut this bit out

Du-Da-La Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba

I'm lonely, Been skipping meals
Still hold me, fell like Ally McB (oh no)
Been wearing, this sick smile for days
Never seen things clearer in a different kind of way

So whats the cure?
My temperature,
Is high and rising and I'm so strung out on you

I've got this sickness for your touch
I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself
I'm so addicted to your love, I've messed up, so let up
Gimme that
good stuff

Du-Da-La Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba

I'm a junkie, I've over dosed
On Chunky Monkey, sweet stuff I need the most
No good reason, for me to stop
Zip me in your pocket until we can make the drop

My head's a mess, the side effects
Of our encounter's got me freakin' in my bed
I've got this sickness for your touch
I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself
I'm so addicted to your love, I've messed up, so let up
Gimme that
good stuff

Du-Da-La Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba

I'm a junkie for your love
co'mon let me give you some
stuff so sweet it's just like cinnamon
never can I have enough, coming up we'll be tough
got this sickness for your touch
never can I have enough, baby
never never can I have enough, baby
never can I have enough, baby
never never never, oh

I've got this sickness for your touch
I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself
I'm so addicted to your love
I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself
I've got this sickness for your touch
I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself
I'm so addicted to your love, I've messed up, so let up

Gimme that
good stuff

Overall Meaning

The song "Addicted" by Alexis Strum is a confession of an addict. The lyrics are a metaphorical representation of the singer's addiction to love. In the chorus, she is comparing her addiction to a drug addict's addiction. She uses lines such as "I've got this sickness for your touch, I'm messed up, can't get up, or get a grip of myself, I'm so addicted to your love" to describe the intensity of her addiction. She is unable to control her actions and is at the mercy of her feelings towards this person.

The first verse shows the singer's vulnerability and loneliness, where she confesses that she has been skipping meals and wearing a "sick smile" for days. She has never seen things clearer in a "different kind of way", which could mean that she has never been in love so intensely before this. In the second verse, she compares her addiction to love to a drug addict's addiction to a substance. She has overdosed on "Chunky Monkey," and she needs it the most.

Overall, the song is a poignant metaphor for the struggle of addiction, irrespective of what one is addicted to.

@Francois78170 It is a late reply, but when I watch this video, I get so sad because of the mentioned music industry - this track is brilliant, Alexis is beautiful and promising, and yet, so MANY years later, she isnt a superstar and only few people know her talent and music.... It is sad for me. The industry is just business, sales and little content or value :( _YANA_
