It was so fun that that they decided to repeat the experience, leading to a prolific musical collaboration which got them to the semi-finals of the Francouvertes. Although this is their first album together, Laberge and Bussières are both accomplished writers, composers, and performers. David Bussières was the guitarist for DobaCaracol, has toured with the European tour of Cirque du Soleil and now performs in the group André. Laberge has lent her voice to several soundtracks and television commercials in addition to being a backup singer for Eve Cournoyer.

Their latest creation, "Lever l'ancre" ("Anchors aweigh") is produced by Mathieu Dandurand (Stefie Shock, Mes Aïeux).

Overall Meaning

The song "Pipeline" by Alfa Rococo is a commentary on the toll that the oil and gas industry can have on individuals and the environment. The lyrics describe the personal experience of an individual who has given their life to work on the pipeline and has sacrificed their dreams and desires to move to the land of plenty ("pays de cocagne"). Despite the effort that this character has put in, their work seems to be taking a toll on them, causing them to feel a loss of control and direction in their life.

Throughout the song, the imagery of the pipeline is used to represent the industry, and the negative impact that it can have on individuals, society, and the environment. The more that the individual works on the pipeline, filling it with natural gas, the more their heart seems to shut down ("plus j'ai le cœur en panne"), and the more their soul withers away ("plus mon âme se fane"). In the end, the individual's soul has been lost within the "pipeline", and there is a sense of despair that this can never be regained.
