She signed with Sony Music in 2012 and released her first self-titled studio album, which gave rise to numerous performances and projects. The album is mostly composed of compositions by the artist herself, solo or in partnership, except for the re-recordings by Dorival Caymmi and Björk.
Her second studio album, Rainha dos Raios (2014), is based on re-recordings and contains only two copyrighted songs, one of them in partnership with Michael Sullivan. In 2015, her song "Como Vês" was featured in the soundtrack of the miniseries Felizes para Sempre?, aired by Rede Globo. In October 2015, Alice started working on the production of her first live DVD, directed by Paulo Borges.
In December 2017, she released the first single from her third album, Alice, which came out on January 19, 2018. The track is called "Inocente", written in partnership with Ana Carolina and won a video directed by Allexia Galvão.
The track "Eu Te Avisei", in partnership with Pabllo Vittar, was released as a single in January 2018.
On May 27, 2019, Alice released her fourth album, Electra, in which she sings all the tracks accompanied only by a piano. In December of the same year, Alice released a clip directed by Pedro Freire for a version of the track "Areia Fina" by Electra, remixed by Maffalda. At the time, she also announced that she would release in the first half of the following year a sequel to the album, called Elétrika, containing new songs made in partnership with Rodrigo Gorky and with a pop sound.
In January 2020, she released the album's first single, "A Noite Inteira", a partnership with Àttooxxá written by her, Rafa Dias and Wallace "Chibatinha" Carvalho dos Santos and produced by Rodrigo Gorky, Maffalda and Zebu, from Brabo Music .
In February 2020, the singer released the song "Elétrika", in partnership with Baianas Ozadas, which was part of an educational campaign by Cemig to alert the population about the precautions to be taken to avoid electric shocks during the carnival in Belo Horizonte .
Sozinha
Alice Caymmi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
E eu bem que te avisei
Eu bem que te avisei
Eu bem que te avisei
Nem deu meia hora
Pra você se arrepender
Eu bem que te falei
Eu bem que te falei
Agora sigo só
Dona do meu destino
E tudo vira pó
Eu sigo o meu caminho
Agora sigo só
Dona do meu destino
E tudo vira pó
Eu sigo o meu caminho
Só, sozinha
Eu sou sozinha, sim
Eu mesma faço um par comigo
Só, sozinha
Eu sou sozinha, sim
Eu mesma faço um par comigo
Só
Agora senta e chora que eu sigo sem você
Agora senta e chora que eu sigo sem você
(Chora, chora, chora, chora, chora)
Você quis embora
E eu bem que te avisei
Eu bem que te avisei
Eu bem que te avisei
Nem deu meia hora
Pra você se arrepender
Eu bem que te falei
Eu bem que te falei
Agora sigo só
Dona do meu destino
E tudo vira pó
Eu sigo o meu caminho
Agora sigo só
Dona do meu destino
E tudo vira pó
Eu sigo o meu caminho
Só, sozinha
Sozinha
Agora senta e chora que eu sigo sem você
Agora senta e chora que eu sigo sem você
(Chora, chora, chora, chora, chora)
Bem que te avisei
Nem deu meia hora Pra você se arrepender
Eu bem que te falei
Eu bem que te falei
Agora sigo só
The lyrics of Alice Caymmi's song "Sozinha" depict a narrative of empowerment and self-reliance after a failed relationship. The song begins with the repetition of "Você quis embora, e eu bem que te avisei" (You wanted to leave, and I warned you), emphasizing the singer's foresight and awareness of the other person's intentions. The subsequent lines, "Nem deu meia hora/ Pra você se arrepender, eu bem que te falei" (Not even half an hour passed/ For you to regret, I told you), highlight the singer's satisfaction in being proven right about the other person's regrets.
The chorus asserts the singer's independence and resilience, with the repeated lines "Agora sigo só, dona do meu destino/ E tudo vira pó, eu sigo o meu caminho" (Now I walk alone, the master of my destiny/ And everything turns to dust, I follow my path). This emphasizes the singer's ability to move on and thrive without the other person. The refrain of "Só, sozinha/ Eu sou sozinha, sim/ Eu mesma faço um par comigo" (Alone, lonely/ Yes, I am lonely/ I make a pair with myself) further emphasizes the singer's self-sufficiency and contentment in being alone.
The song concludes with the repeated line "Agora senta e chora que eu sigo sem você" (Now sit and cry, I continue without you), reinforcing the singer's indifference towards the other person's regrets and their determination to move forward independently.
