It's Me
Alice Cooper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You took a first-class trip to Paris
You danced in the streets of Spain
You followed the sun to Rio de Janeiro
Cuz you got so sick and tired of the
London rain
But honey, late at night
When you close your tired eyes
You'll be there
And I'll be here
And one of us will cry

It's me, it's me
When you need something more
Something you're dying for
It's me, it's me
When you can't see too clear
Baby, I'm always near
It's me

You played your cards, you felt the sorrow
'Cuz all that dealer dealt was pain
But baby, where you gonna play tomorrow
The stakes were too damn high
And now, you're broke again
You can trip around til all your money's blown
But who's the man that'll take you in
When all your luck is gone

It's me, it's me
What are you searching for
I know you can find my door
It's me, it's me
I know you've sinned every sin
But I'll still take you in
It's me

And me, I'm sitting here
Nothing much has changed
You broke my heart to pieces, babe
But that's nothing strange
Well, I ain't angry
That's all come and gone
My arms are still open wide girl
To catch you when you fall

And if someday you realize
Just where you belong
I'm the man that'll take you in
When all your luck is gone
It's me, it's me

When you need something more
Something you're dying for
It's me, it's me
When you can't see too clear
Baby, I'm always near

It's me, it's me
What are you searching for
I know you can find my door
It's me, it's me
I know you've sinned every sin
But I'll still take you in

It's me
Yeah, baby, it's me

This song and the entire album is a masterpiece. When this CD came out it did not leave my CD player for a month! I bought the one that came with the comic book and Alice signed both at Kmart in Pontiac. He is the nicest guy you will ever meet.

@krombergbf

huge album ! but this song is too close of the "trash hey stoopid era" . not my fav of this album. But Alice is still a king !

@travismarshall9212

Alice is definitely a legend! Saw him in Reno in 2016. Still trying to figure out how he cut his head off on stage?

@psihopedia

He may be the wisest guy in rock history aswell. I listened a few autobiographies and all these dudes speak about him like he's a priest or counselor in disguise. 🙂

@brucefranklin6295

I thought when this album came out,that it was his best album since Welcome to my Nightmare. I still listen to it a lot.

@TheIndependentLens

YES! I bought this album back then and did a Meet & Greet with Alice and got him to sign the first comic book of the 3!

One of the most beautiful voices in the history of music

@LarryFleetwood8675

On ballads, yes. Second to none, could've been a full time crooner like Barry too.

@jersydvl

Not sure id call it beautiful but he definitely rocks hard.

@RNRHorrorHunter

Alice can do anything. Love ballads, murder ballads, anthems, angst; he's got it all!
