Lyrically, Alice Donut often explores depravity, domestic violence, sexuality and food, reflected in songs like 'My Life is a Mediocre Piece of Shit' and 'The Son Of A Disgruntled X-Postal Worker Reflects On His Life While Getting Stoned In The Parking Lot Of A Winn Dixie Listening To Metallica'.
2004's Three Sisters, their first record after their hiatus, was recorded as a four-piece with Tom Antona on vocals, Michael Jung on guitar, Stephen Moses on drums and Sissi Schulmeister on bass. Original guitarist Dave Giffen rejoined the group for Fuzz, which was recorded in Brooklyn's BC Studio with longtime co-producer Martin Bisi and released in 2006. Both Three Sisters and Fuzz were released by Howler Records.
The band's style and lyrics are eclectic. Their music is a mixture of hard rock, punk, and post-punk and typically features melodic, guitar-heavy, odd-metered, and rhythm based pieces and is often punctuated with brass instrumentation.
Alice Donut returned to Alternative Tentacles in 2009 for the release of the newest full length album, 10 Glorious Animals (although the digital release will handled by Howler).
Alice Donut will keep making records until they die.

Alice Donut Lyrics

Waiting for the Millennium
They say that history's coming to an end
Nothing happens now
Since the wall came down
Can't remember where I was back then
Throw it all away
In the new millennium
It don't mean I even meant it
Sitting in the sun
Waiting for the Millennium
Looking forward to the end of time
You can find me here
Waiting year after year
Ready for nothing all the time
It don't mean a thing
Throw it all way
In the new millennium
It don't mean a thing
Nothing at all
The lyrics of Alice Donut's song Millenium portray a sense of boredom and apathy towards the changes that the future promises to bring. The singer is sitting in the sun, waiting for the millennium, but also acknowledges that nothing really happens now. The reference to history coming to an end is perhaps an allusion to the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, which had been two of the most significant events of the prior decade. Yet, even after going through that era of upheaval, it seems that the singer has a hard time connecting to those moments in the past, stating that he/she can't remember where he/she was back then.
The irony of the song is that the singer seems to know the new millennium won't be any different than the present or the past, yet still eagerly waits for it. The line "It don't mean I even meant it" suggests that the singer's waiting is not motivated by any genuine desire for change or progress, but rather as a form of complacency, refusing to take any meaningful action or responsibility towards shaping the future.
In the context of the 1990s, Millenium symbolized the promise of a new era, filled with technological advancements, economic prosperity, and cultural transformation, all culminating in the year 2000. However, Alice Donut's song chooses to challenge these ideas, exposing the emptiness of the rhetoric surrounding the millennium.
