Burning bright there´s a guiding star
No matter what or who you are
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Over at the Frankenstein place
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Burning in the fireplace
Of everybody´s life
Brad: I can see the flag fly
I can see the rain
Just the same, there has got to be
Something better here for
You and me
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Over at the Frankenstein place
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Burning in the fireplace
Brad & Janet: There´s a light, light in the darkness
Of everybody´s life
Riff-Raff: The darkness must go
Down the river of night´s dreaming
Flow morphia slow, let the sun and light come streaming
Into my life, into my life
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Over at the Frankenstein place
Brad & Janet: There´s a light
Phantoms: Burning in the fireplace
Brad & Janet: There´s a light, light in the darkness
Of everybody´s life
The song "Over At the Frankenstein Place" by Alice Ripley is from the musical "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and is performed by Brad, Janet, and a chorus of phantoms. The song starts in the "velvet darkness of the blackest night" where the phantoms point to a guiding star that is "burning bright" in the distance. Brad and Janet join in singing about the light they see "over at the Frankenstein place" and the fire burning in the fireplace. The song emphasizes that no matter who you are or what you're going through, there is always a light in the darkness of everyone's life.
The chorus repeats the phrase "There's a light" multiple times to drive home the point, and Riff-Raff joins in to sing about the darkness needing to go down the river of night's dreaming and make way for the sun and light to come streaming into his life. The song ends with Brad, Janet, and the phantoms singing in unison about the light in the darkness of everyone's life.
