Our imaginary Alice fell into the rabbit hole on a chilly day in May 2002. Toril Lindqvist had been a guitar player in various rock bands for years, but was beginning to feel tormented by musical inspiratio that didn't quite fit into any Rock and Roll context. She wanted to be a singer. In something more "electronic" than a rock band. Finally one day she took a long shot and phoned old friend Carl Lundgren.
Skeptical in the extreme, Carl agreed to hook up for a brain storming session. The two met a couple of times and became inspired by the fact that they really had nothing in common musically; this would actually become the fuel of their creative process. Early on, the duo would make attempts at "Body Music meets Punk Rock meets Commodore 64", inspired by an imaginary and unholy alliance of DAF, The Clash and Rob Hubbard.
A couple of simple demos were released during the late summer of 2002, and surprisingly generated lots of acclaim! With fuelled enthusiasm, the duo christened their project "Alice in Videoland" from a 1984 Commodore 64 computer game. Anders Lundgren (keyboards) and Anders Alexander (drums) were recruited in February 2003. Johan Dahlbom (bass) joined in November the same year. At this point, Alice in Videoland had begun receiving massive praise for their energetic and charismatic live show.
In the midst of this early experimentation process, off the hype of a five track demo and less than ten gigs, Alice in Videoland suddenly found themselves battered with offers. Eight different labels expressed their interest in signing the band, who were eventually attracted to the relative freedom offered by Swedish label National. AiV began recording their album in June 2003, partly assisted by Micke Lohse (Atomic Swing). Curious of cross-genre experimentation, the band elaborated on their sound, drawing inspiration from a spectrum of genres ranging from EBM, synthpop and electro through to disco, rock and punk.
And sure enough - in the following months their sound evolved from being arguably concept driven into something truly musically interesting. The debut album, Maiden Voyage contains a peculiar mixture of electronic pop, punk and hard EBM beats. Substance? You betcha. Alice won't be climbing out of the rabbit hole anytime soon ...
Alice in Videoland also released Outrageous, a follow-up to Maiden Voyage, in 2005.
In 2008 they released their thrid album She's A Machine on the Swedish label National.
In 2009 they released a new single, Psychobitch
A Million Thoughts and They're All About You is the fourth studio album by Alice in Videoland. It was released in Sweden on 11 February 2011. It includes the single "Spaceship".

Dance with Me
Alice in Videoland Lyrics

Badly wounded from a fall
Kind of frail but not at all
As pathetic as I sound
I'm messed up
And I'm messed up pretty bad
But I'm the best you ever had
The one who moves your ground
Not like any other girl you've met
So I know you won't regret
When you decide to come around
Let's spin around
Till we drop dead on the ground
And the pleasure within the heat
Gets around the sound of the beat
So come on baby dance with me
Come on baby dance with me
Come on dance with me
With me with me with me with me
I can't breathe
I panic I'm out of air
I shiver and it's not fair
The way you lead me on
I'm dressed up
And I'm dressed up to go
So I might just let you know
I hate it when I'm wrong
I swear, I don't mind
Whatever you want to do
As long as you'll stay true
I know that I'm the one
Let's spin around
Till we drop dead on the ground
And the pleasure within the heat
Gets around the sound of the beat
So come on baby dance with me
Come on baby dance with me
Come on dance with me
With me with me with me with me
The lyrics of the song "Dance With Me" by Alice in Videoland convey an interesting mix of vulnerability and confidence. The song seems to be addressed to a lover, as the singer talks about being wounded, messed up, and frail, but also claims to be the best they ever had and asks them to dance. The lyrics suggest that the singer is unique and different from other girls, and that the lover won't regret coming around to dance with her. The chorus repeats the invitation to dance, with a sense of urgency and abandon, until they drop dead on the ground.
The lyrics suggest a mix of emotions and sensations, from panic and shivers to pleasure and heat. The singer seems to surrender to the beat and the dance, using it as a way to express herself and connect with the lover. The song has a catchy melody and a driving rhythm that support the lyrics' energy and intensity. Overall, the lyrics of "Dance With Me" convey a powerful mix of vulnerability and confidence, as well as an invitation to let go and dance.

I'm flat broke
I have no money
Badly wounded from a fall
I am hurt because I fell
Kind of frail but not at all
I seem weak but I'm not really weak
As pathetic as I sound
I know I sound pitiful
I'm messed up
I have problems
And I'm messed up pretty bad
My problems are serious
But I'm the best you ever had
Despite my problems, I am still the best you've had
The one who moves your ground
I am the one who excites you and makes you feel alive
I'm one of a kind
I am unique
Not like any other girl you've met
I am different from any other woman you know
So I know you won't regret
I am sure you won't feel sorry for meeting me
When you decide to come around
When you come to me
Let's spin around
Let's dance together
Till we drop dead on the ground
Until we are too exhausted to continue dancing
And the pleasure within the heat
The joy we feel in our passion
Gets around the sound of the beat
Overcomes the rhythm of the music
So come on baby dance with me
Please dance with me
Come on baby dance with me
Please dance with me
Come on dance with me
Please dance with me
I can't breathe
I am short of breath
I panic I'm out of air
I am scared because I can't breathe
I shiver and it's not fair
I get scared easily and it's not fair to me
The way you lead me on
The way you tease me
I'm dressed up
I am wearing nice clothes
And I'm dressed up to go
I am ready to go out
So I might just let you know
I will tell you something
I hate it when I'm wrong
I don't like being wrong
I swear, I don't mind
I promise, it's okay by me
Whatever you want to do
Whichever activity you want to engage in
As long as you'll stay true
As long as you will be sincere
I know that I'm the one
I am confident that I am the best for you
With me with me with me with me
With me
