Strangers

Maybe it's time to say it to face to face
A year went by
So many things changed but you, you feel the same to me
I thought you'd be there beside me
I thought you'd meet her when I did
Is it good as it is
But Where were you when I was bleeding
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Do you even know how it feels
To have to heal on your own
Yeah maybe I should've known
That we're better off as strangers
It still feels weird
I can't just call you up and tell you how we've been
I had a feeling you'd let go
When something better would come along
And look at where we are now
Now I'm just trying to figure out
Is it good as it is
Is it better as it is?
But where were you when I was bleeding
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Do you even know how it feels
To have to heal on your own
Yeah maybe I should've known
That we're better off as strangers
Better off as strangers
Better off as strangers
But where were you when I was bleeding
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Do you even know how it feels
To have to heal on your own
Yeah maybe I should've known
Where were you when I was bleeding
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Do you even know how it feels
To have to heal on your own
Yeah maybe I should've known
That we're better off as strangers
The lyrics of Alicia Moffet's song "Strangers" describe the confusion and disappointment that arises when one's expectations of a relationship are not met. The singer has been thinking a lot about a person who used to be close to her, but now feels like a stranger. She is considering whether or not it's worth trying to reconnect with this person and catch up, but ultimately decides that maybe they are better off not knowing each other anymore. Throughout the song, the singer reflects on the past and questions why this person was not there for her during a difficult time, leading her to conclude that they are better off as strangers.
The line "Where were you when I was bleeding, Why'd you leave right when I needed you, Do you even know how it feels, To have to heal on your own" is particularly poignant, as it expresses the hurt and betrayal that the singer feels towards this person. She needed support and comfort during a difficult time, but instead was left to deal with her emotions alone. The repetition of this line throughout the song underscores the pain that the singer is feeling and the unanswered questions that she has.
Overall, "Strangers" is a powerful song about the complexities of relationships and the feelings of disappointment that can emerge when our expectations are not met. The lyrics are heartfelt and relatable, providing a window into the emotions that arise when we feel disconnected from someone who was once close to us.

You've been on my mind
I've been thinking about you a lot recently
Maybe it's time to say it to face to face
Perhaps it's time to have a conversation in person
A year went by
It's been a year since we last spoke
So many things changed but you, you feel the same to me
Despite all the changes, your presence hasn't changed
I thought you'd be there beside me
I assumed you would be supportive and present
I thought you'd meet her when I did
I thought you would meet my significant other at the same time I did
Now I'm just trying to figure out
I'm currently attempting to understand
Is it good as it is
Is the current situation satisfactory?
But Where were you when I was bleeding
Where were you when I needed emotional support?
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Why did you depart when I needed you most?
Do you even know how it feels
Do you comprehend the feeling?
To have to heal on your own
To recover without assistance
Yeah maybe I should've known
Perhaps I was foolish for not realizing
That we're better off as strangers
That it's better for us to remain strangers
It still feels weird
It's strange and unsettling
I can't just call you up and tell you how we've been
I cannot simply pick up the phone and catch up with you
I had a feeling you'd let go
I had a suspicion that you would move on
When something better would come along
When a better opportunity or person presented itself
And look at where we are now
We're in a different situation now
Is it better as it is?
Is the current situation an improvement?
Better off as strangers
It's better for us to remain strangers
Where were you when I was bleeding
Where were you when I needed emotional support?
Why'd you leave right when I needed you
Why did you depart when I needed you most?
Do you even know how it feels
Do you comprehend the feeling?
To have to heal on your own
To recover without assistance
Yeah maybe I should've known
Perhaps I was foolish for not realizing
That we're better off as strangers
That it's better for us to remain strangers

If you use a synth why do you call it unplugged? It's remarkable beautiful between the rotary reverb, clear vocals and stunning background.
