She has appeared in several West End Musicals including The Hot Mikado, Jerry Springer: The Opera and Grease (musical). She was featured in the motion picture Being Julia.
She was nominated for the 2004 Laurence Olivier Award for best actress in a musical for her role in Jerry Springer: The Opera, in which she played the character of Shawntel, an overweight, middle-aged woman who dreams of becoming a pole dancer. Though never paid for the project, a remixed version of her rendition of ”I Just Wanna Dance” from the musical became a popular dance track in nightclubs in the U.S., Europe and Australia.
In 2006, she also starred in a humorous Burger King commercial in the UK that pastiched Meat Loaf’s music videos.

Your update is truly amazing. I just love the song and both the original video and this one.
The song and it’s lyrics mean a lot to me. It became my anthem when in 2007 I was undergoing chemotherapy.
Whenever I was feeling low or really rough I’d play it full blast and sing along.
It was also the song I had to dance to along with my friends in Legends, my favourite gay club.

I am a 71 y/o gay man who first heard this Wayne G mix on a gay cruise. I'd LOVE to use it as a background for a photo slideshow of my husband and I on our many gay cruises. It will be at the end of a video rant on ageism in the LGBTQ community. I have a YouTube channel but I'm sure it will give me a copyright hit. How do I get (if I can) permission to use it.
