All first saw singer Dave Smalley in some of the earlier albums such as 'Allroy Sez' and 'Allroy For Prez'. Smalley later gave way to singer Scott Reynolds who appeared on the albums 'Allroy's Revenge', 'Trailblazer', 'Allroy Saves', and 'Percolator'. The 'New Girl, Old Story' album in 1991 saw All credited as TonyALL and featured their old Descendents bandmate Tony Lombardo on vocals.
Once Scott moved on, current singer Chad Price stepped in. Price has spent some time in the studio with All as well on such albums as 'Breaking Things', 'Pummel', 'Mass Nerder', 'Problematic', and the live album 'Live Plus One'.
Although All is mostly made up of members of the Descendents, and most of the songs are written by the same people in both bands, few can deny that ALL has its own distinct sound while still letting the Descendents bleed through."
2) All is an alias of Wolfgang Voigt who specializes in ambient and a concept between M:I:5 and Gas
Better Than That
All Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of All's song Better Than That address the human condition, and society's tendency to prioritize self-interest over cooperation and empathy. The song acknowledges that addiction and self-centeredness are inherent in all of us, but urges listeners to recognize this truth and strive to be "better than that."
The line "And the devotion to the trinity of me, myself and I" speaks to the idea that people often prioritize their own needs and desires over those of others, and prioritize individual success over community well-being. The line "We cooperate enough to stay alive" suggests that while humans can work together for survival, this cooperation often comes at the expense of genuine empathy and mutual aid.
The verses also address acts of violence and aggression, speaking to the singer's desire to take revenge on someone who wronged their partner, and acknowledging the prevalence of "macho bullshit." However, the song ultimately looks towards hope and progress, with the singer finding inspiration in the sight of a young mother and child.
Overall, Better Than That is a sobering yet hopeful reflection on the flaws of human nature and the potential for growth and change.

Once you recognize the truth tell me what do you do?
When you become aware of the reality, what actions do you take?
Addicted to the sickness its an actual fact,
We are all addicted to negative behaviors; it's a reality we must face.
It's inside of me and its inside of you,
Negative behavior is present within everyone.
All I know is I hope we're better than that.
Despite our flaws, we should all strive to be better people.
We try to lend a hand, to help our fellow man,
We attempt to assist others in need.
But what is said and done, its all about number one,
In reality, people prioritize their own needs over others.
We cooperate enough to stay alive,
We only work together to survive as a species.
And the devotion to the trinity of me, myself and I.
People tend to solely focus on themselves and their interests.
So I went to get a hammer to break his knees,
I once had violent tendencies towards someone who wronged me.
I remember once this guy, made my girl cry,
Someone caused emotional distress to my significant other.
Nothing came of it, except just macho bullshit,
My actions were pointless and simply fueled by toxic masculinity.
Or expression of the symptoms of the naked ape's diease.
Our negative behavior is a symptom of our primitive, animalistic nature.
And the nightmare keeps repeating,
Society is plagued by recurring negative behavior.
While the consciences are sleeping,
People remain unaware of their own negative behavior.
Untroubled and unclean.
Unaware and without remorse for their own negative behavior.
This cool girl that I know went and had a baby,
Someone I know had a child.
she lets me hold the kid a while,
I am allowed to hold the child briefly.
An amazing leap of faith,
Having a child is an incredible expression of trust and hope.
And when I see them, and I watch the baby smile,
Observing the child's happiness brings joy and hope.
I thought I'd outgrown hope,
I believed I had lost the ability to hope for better things.
But what I see there gives me reason.
The child's happiness gives me reason to have hope for the future.
Oh we're better than that,
As humans, we have the potential to be better than our negative behavior suggests.
All I know is I hope we're better than that.
I remain hopeful that society can overcome its negative behavior and strive to be better.

Wait... so this sounds like it was sung by Milo Aukerman from the Descendents... but the band is actually everyone in the Descendents except Milo? What the hell? Great song though.

@Pete Mourilyan It's always been interesting to me how they've found vocalists that have a similar style and range to Milo, but with enough individual uniqueness so that they music doesn't sound like a Descendents tribute band.
