All first saw singer Dave Smalley in some of the earlier albums such as 'Allroy Sez' and 'Allroy For Prez'. Smalley later gave way to singer Scott Reynolds who appeared on the albums 'Allroy's Revenge', 'Trailblazer', 'Allroy Saves', and 'Percolator'. The 'New Girl, Old Story' album in 1991 saw All credited as TonyALL and featured their old Descendents bandmate Tony Lombardo on vocals.
Once Scott moved on, current singer Chad Price stepped in. Price has spent some time in the studio with All as well on such albums as 'Breaking Things', 'Pummel', 'Mass Nerder', 'Problematic', and the live album 'Live Plus One'.
Although All is mostly made up of members of the Descendents, and most of the songs are written by the same people in both bands, few can deny that ALL has its own distinct sound while still letting the Descendents bleed through."

Skin Deep

You looked your best
Looked like a million
More or less
You were so carefully undressed
But you're just skin deep
And I'm not impressed
Just like all the rest
Because you change your mind
Like you change your clothes
Pre-fab perspective, poise and pose
In it comes and out it goes
But it's just skin deep
And that's as far as it goes
It's all done with mirrors
And painted smiles
Reflection…Obsession
The hype of style
I looked away
I could have cried
You always have me hypnotized
Sure would like to know what your like inside
But you're just skin deep
And looks can lie
You're just skin deep
So why even try?
In the song 'Skin Deep' by The All, the singer describes his encounter with someone who looks attractive on the surface, but doesn't seem to have any depth. The opening lines, "I looked your way, You looked your best, Looked like a million, More or less," set the scene for the singer's first impression of the person in question. The second stanza then reveals that, despite their alluring appearance, they lack substance: "You were so carefully undressed, But you're just skin deep, And I'm not impressed, You're just skin deep, Just like all the rest."
Later in the song, the singer comments on the person's lack of authenticity: "Because you change your mind, Like you change your clothes, Pre-fab perspective, poise and pose, In it comes, and out it goes." He notes that their persona is phony and superficial, "But it's just skin deep, And that's as far as it goes, It's all done with mirrors, And painted smiles, Reflection...Obsession, The hype of style."
In the final stanza, the singer expresses a desire to know the person beyond their appearance, "Sure would like to know what you're like inside, But you're just skin deep." He acknowledges that looks can be deceiving and ultimately concludes that there's no point in trying to get to know this person on a deeper level when they refuse to reveal their true self.
