It’s been a while (14 years, give or take) since Chris placed an advertisement in the Washington City Paper calling for seasoned musicians to work on a blues/rock recording project. When I first showed up at his studio, barefoot and hung over from the previous night’s debauchery, I had no idea what lay in store as I began setting up my keyboard. I hadn’t played in several weeks since parting ways with yet another band… my head hurt… and Chris and I did not seem to have very much in common, at least on the surface. I was an engineer who worked for the Department of Defense. Chris would laugh and describe himself as one who “stacked fruit in symmetrical pyramids.” We were soon joined by John (a bass wielding medical technician affectionately referred to as “Moose”), Ray (a shaggy-looking wedding photographer and versatile guitarist), and Jeff (who spoke quietly, but banged the drums). Once we got started, it was immediately obvious to us that we were having too much fun playing music together to care about "cultural differences." And so it began.
While we leisurely recorded some original songs over the next few months, we were visited by a wide variety of musicians and personalities – background vocalists Nancy and Margaret, harmonica players, saxophonists, another drummer who could muster nothing more than a polka beat, a lead guitarist with an unusually large ego, and a chiropractor/guitarist from New Jersey who (as he pulled a joint from his shirt pocket) offered to buy the chair in which he sat for $50. There were other colorful characters, who may have contributed to these songs over the years, but they have gone their separate ways, their names forgotten. After all, a dozen years was a long time to take to record our first album, though it was never really our intention to actually create “an album” – we just enjoyed playing and recording music. Over time, we lost touch with Jeff and John, while we lost Ray (to whom our first album "Just Passing Through" was dedicated) in the summer of 2007. With the deepest of thanks to all our musical brothers and sisters, we decided to pool our collective efforts onto that first album, if for no other reason than to preserve the music that brought us together and helped forge lasting friendships. Chris and I (and sometimes John) have continued to record original tunes and our sophomore effort is due for release in late 2012. We hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did putting it together. It’s all good. _ Tim

You put the world put my world hangin by a wire
You are the one I come undone and someone I seem to trust Like shiny silver steel let's tear it up before we turn to rust
I have nowhere else left to go
And if I did I still would not go
I'm gonna stay, like I say, forever and a day
Under the black sun
Lets play
You live, like someone is behind you
Like something lives inside you
Like you have only minutes until the end and I am magentized beside you
And I can't leave despite you
And I won't break but in your arms I'll bend
Till the stars fall down, till the planets collide
Till the sun burns out and society dies
We'll be the last ones standing under the skies
Together in the fallout
We will never fall out
And if you ever, while we're together think of anyone
Then you must go you must have your fun
I will wait for you no matter what you do
I will be here, I will see it through
I have nowhere else left to go
And if I did I still would not go
I'm gonna stay like I say forever and a day Under the black sun, lets stay
You live, like someone is behind you
Like something lives inside you
Like you have only minutes until the end and I am magentized beside you
And I can't leave despite you
And I won't break but in your arms I'll bend
Till the stars fall down, till the planets collide
Till the sun burns out and society dies
We'll be the last ones standing under the skies
Together in the fallout
We will never fall out
Back to the black, where our hearts were born
There's a big bang coming, but we'll never be torn.
We'll be the last ones standing, After it all
Walk together in the fallout
But we will never Fallout.
The lyrics of "Fallout" by All Good Things seem to depict a relationship that is intense, passionate, and chaotic. The first verse talks about how the other person sets the singer's soul on fire, but at the same time, puts their world on a wire, hanging by a thread. The lyrics suggest that the other person is someone the singer trusts and comes undone around, but also someone with whom they must tear it up before it all turns to rust. The singer feels like they have nowhere else to go and wants to stay with the other person forever, under the black sun.
The second verse seems to show a bit of a darker side to the relationship, with the other person living like someone is behind them and only has minutes left until the end. The singer seems to be magnetized beside the other person, unable to leave despite any doubts or fears. The lyrics suggest that the singer may bend but won't break in the other person's arms.
The chorus talks about how the two will stand together until the end, no matter what happens, even as the stars fall down, the planets collide, and society dies. The singer declares that they will be the last ones standing under the skies, together in the fallout, and they will never fall out.
Overall, the lyrics seem to show a relationship that is intense and passionate, but also chaotic and potentially destructive. The singer is willing to stay with the other person forever, no matter what may come.
