All India Radio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're so yesterday
And I know
I know what it shows
So I try to forget
And forgive
And forget
And forgive
You're so, you're so far away
You're so yesterday
And I know
And I know
What it shows
So I try to forget
And forgive
And forget
And forgive
So I know
And I know
And I know
And I know
What it shows
So I try to forget
And forgive
And forget
And forgive
So far away
You're so
You're so yesterday
And I know
And I know
And I know
What it shows
So I try to forget
And forgive
And forget
And forgive
The lyrics to All India Radio's "Far Away" employ a sense of longing, regret, and resignation as the singer negotiates difficult feelings in the wake of distance and separation from a loved one. The repetition of "you're so far away, you're so yesterday" reinforces the sense of temporal and spatial distance that the singer is grappling with. The lyrics suggest that perhaps the relationship has ended, or perhaps the distance is only temporary, but either way, the singer is struggling to move on.
The repeated refrain of "forget and forgive" indicates that the singer is trying to find a way to let go of the pain and move forward. However, the repetition of "I know what it shows" suggests that the singer may not entirely believe in their own ability to let go. They are aware of the reality of the situation and the possibility that the relationship may not be able to continue, but they simultaneously continue to hold on to hope.
Overall, the lyrics of "Far Away" capture the complex emotions that can arise in the aftermath of a relationship, particularly one that is distant or has ended. The repetition of the same phrases underscores the singer's struggle to move on while also acknowledging the difficulty of doing so.

Every time I listen to this it brings back all those emotions. 15 years and it still hasn't gotten easier, lost love hurts, I know, but at least that got easier with time. I don't remember much from those times any more but I'll never forget the last time I saw her.
Thank you for your music, it's a reminder for me of all I would have missed by giving up.

This is one of my favorite songs. For me, it's both forward looking and reminiscent at the same time. It's hopeful and sad, it's great.
