Satellite
All The Time Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wishing on a star that's just a satellite
Driving in a car with broken tail-lights
Growing up with eyes glued shut

Wishing on a star that's just a satellite
Driving in a car with broken tail-lights

Na-na na na-na na
Na-na na na-na

Strip club in a strip mall
Million ways to die
All the things we lost in
The backseat of the sky

Growing up with eyes glued shut

Wishing on a star that's just a satellite
Driving in a car with broken tail-lights

Na-na na na-na na
Na-na na na-na

We were just kids, we were just kids singing
We were just kids, we were just kids

We were just kids, we were just kids singing
We were just kids, we were just kids

We were just kids, we were just kids singing
We were just kids, we were just kids

We were just kids, we were just kids singing
We were just kids, we were just kids

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of All The Time’s Satellite seem to delve into themes of nostalgia, growing up, and the experiences that shape us as individuals. At its core, the song juxtaposes the innocence and carefree nature of childhood with the grit and harsh realities of adulthood. The repetition of the lines “Wishing on a star that’s just a satellite” and “Driving in a car with broken tail-lights” evoke a sense of longing and frustration that comes with the realization that things are not always as they seem.

The line “Growing up with eyes glued shut” seems to highlight the idea that sometimes, in our youth, we are not fully aware of the world around us and the struggles that those close to us may be facing. This could either be because we’re ignorant of these issues or because we choose not to see them because they’re uncomfortable or inconvenient. The final line “We were just kids singing” brings the song full circle, and serves as a reminder of the simpler times in life where it felt like anything was possible.

I remember two years ago going to their concert, waiting for them to come on stage and as soon as those chords began my friend next to me started to scream with excitement. Last night I went to their concert again with the same friend, and I'm so thankful to all time low for bringing us closer together
