Since coming together as a band, they cut their teeth playing numerous California dates with groups like Entrance Band, Tyde, Tijuana Panthers, and the Growlers, and have garnered the approval of original UK Psych founding-father Patrick Campbell-Lyons (Nirvana). In the Los Angeles musical community, they gained a reputation as a laid-back, grooving band with strong ties to the authentically LA-centric sounds of bands like the Byrds, Love, and early Captain Beefheart.
The group released their third album, Calico Review, on September 9, 2016. On November 3, 2017, the band released the EP Covers #1. The EP consists of four covers of songs by George Harrison, Television, Kathy Heideman, and Further. In October 2019, the band released the album LAHS.
Tell Me
Allah-Las Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm not feeling yet quite so bad
I'm not getting half of what I earn
Thought that we were set but now I, I've yearned
So tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
All my troubles, yeah
Stem from you
Not much I expected you to do
I'm not feeling quite the way I should
Once I was upset now I've been feeling good
So tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
'Cause I can't find it
All my time I gave to you
All those trials you ran me through
Love like yours will have to wait
Not my style to hesitate
I'm not saying that I try
Hard enough to gain my stride
All I have to say to you
Is anything you want me to, so
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
'Cause I can't find it
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
Tell me what's on your mind
'Cause I can't find it
No I can't find it
No I can't find it
In "Tell Me," the Allah-Las sing about feeling unsure and disconnected from someone they care about. They express their frustration with not being able to understand the other person's thoughts and feelings, and they long for clarity and openness in their relationship. The lyrics suggest that the singer has given a lot of time and effort to this person, but feels that they have not received much in return. Despite this, they still seem willing to communicate and work through their issues together.
One interpretation of this song is that it is about the challenges of communication in relationships. The Allah-Las may be expressing a common struggle to understand and connect with another person, particularly when there are miscommunications or unspoken feelings involved. The repeated refrain of "tell me what's on your mind" underscores the importance of being honest and open in order to build a deeper connection.
Another possible interpretation is that the lyrics are about the frustration of feeling undervalued or taken for granted. The singer seems to suggest that they have given a lot to this relationship, but have not received much in return. They may be grappling with feelings of resentment or disappointment, and the repeated refrain of "tell me what's on your mind" could be a plea for the other person to acknowledge and reciprocate their efforts.
Overall, "Tell Me" is a song about the complexities of human connection and the challenges of understanding and communicating with others.

I watched the Grammy Awards recently and could not tell you one artist! On the other hand, It’s great to see some musicians still making music using instruments! Yet in today’s electronic music age, Rock Bands like this have been ignored! This song has a nice 60’s sounding Garage Pop-Punk sound! I’m impressed! These guys are very good! Finally a new band that plays Rock and is inspired by the great era of 1964-67! We need a revival of this great era!
