Alle Farben Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, you were a child crawling on your knees toward him
(Crawling on your knees)
Making mama so proud
But your voice is too loud (too loud, too loud)
We, we like to watch you laughing (you laughing)
Picking insects off of plants, no time to think of consequences ('quences)

Control yourself, take only what you need from it (need from it)
A family of trees wanting to be haunted
Control yourself, take only what you need from it
A family of trees wanting to be haunted

The water is warm, but it's sending me shivers (me shivers)
A baby is born (baby is born)
Crying out for attention
The memories fade like looking through a fogged mirror (fogged mirror)
Decisions to decisions are made and not bought
But I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot, I guess not

Control yourself, take only what you need from it (need from it)
A family of trees wanting to be haunted (to be haunted)
Control yourself, take only what you need from it (need from it)
A family of trees wanting to be haunted (to be haunted)

Control yourself, take only what you need from it (need from it)
A family of trees wanting to be haunted

Control yourself, take only what you need from it (need from it)
A family of trees wanting to be haunted (to be haunted)

Overall Meaning

In Alle Farben's song KIDS, the lyrics paint a picture of childhood innocence and the loss of innocence as we grow up and make life-altering decisions. The first verse talks about how we start off as children, crawling on our knees towards someone we look up to, making our parents proud. However, as we grow up, we become more expressive, louder, and our actions are often without forethought. We become caught up in the moment, laughing and playing, without considering the consequences of our actions.

The chorus instructs us to take only what we need from life, control ourselves and make wise choices, like a family of trees wanting to be haunted. The second verse talks about the contrast between the warmth of the water and the cold shivers that it sends through our body. It also talks about how a baby's cry for attention fades away like a memory, and how we have to make decisions that are not always easy. The last line of the verse, "But I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot, I guess not," shows that we often make choices that have consequences we didn't anticipate.

Overall, the song seems to be a reminder to live our lives with intention, to make wise choices, and to cherish the moments of our childhood when we were innocent and carefree.
