In 2014, she released Catch on Soundcloud, which Katy Perry tweeted about, providing an instant audience. Prime and Bitch followed. EP CollXtion I was released in April 2015, with an accompanying residency at the Phi Centre in Montreal from April 30 to May 2. In 2015, she also co-wrote several tracks on Troye Sivan's Blue Neighborhood, and toured with him as an opening act.
Hughes has been praised for her voice, multimedia artistic endeavors, fan participation, and engaging live performances.

Without knowing the consequence
So naive, I was a child
I volunteered my innocence
And my skeleton
Has become cement
And it won't be long
And the mold is cast
Taking shape so fast
I'm ready now (at last)
Under the skin and bone
Took my face when the blood starts slowing
I'm turning into stone
Halfway there, might as well keep going
I'm in a gallery, I'm behind a glass
No touching me, those days have passed now
But who will love me when the night is over
And I'm just a sculpture?
No more running through the garden
I can't hide in my mother's arms
One by one, my fingers harden
A freestanding work of art
And my skeleton
Has become cement
And it won't be long
'Til the flesh is gone
And the mold is cast
Taking shape so fast
I'm ready now (at last)
Under the skin and bone
Took my face when the blood starts slowing
I'm turning into stone
Halfway there, might as well keep going
I'm in a gallery, I'm behind a glass
No touching me, those days have passed now
But who will love me when the night is over
And I'm just a sculpture?
It's too late, cheeks opaque
To my tears are frozen
I'll take them far away
My fate is chosen
It's too late, cheeks opaque
To my tears are frozen
I'll take them far away
My fate is chosen
It's too late, cheeks opaque
To my tears are frozen
I'll take them far away
My fate is chosen
It's too late, cheeks opaque
Who will love me when the night is over
And I'm just a sculpture?
"Allie X’s “Sculpture” is a haunting ballad about voluntarily shedding one’s humanity in the pursuit of beauty and artistic perfection. The opening lines detail the singer's descent into darkness, as she “sold [her] soul to [her] shadow” without fully grasping the ramifications of doing so. The subsequent lines convey a sense of inevitability as the singer's body turns to cement, the “mold is cast,” and she becomes a “freestanding work of art.” Yet even as the singer acknowledges the high price of artistic creativity, she remains fixed on her goals. As flesh gives way to stone, she also recognizes the inevitability of her rendering in one form or another. The song ends with the singer pleading for someone to love her even as her artistic legacy stands polished and immovable, far from life.
Overall, “Sculpture” illustrates the consequences of artistic passion and the complicated relationship between artists and their art. It highlights the importance of questioning one’s creative impulses and the high cost of artistic perfection."
