In that time, they've been signed to one of the great indie labels, played sold-out shows in Germany and Sweden, wowed the crowds at the Indietracks and Swn festivals, toured the UK and recorded an album. They've received airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 music and XFM, and had glowing reviews in places such as the Metro, The Fly and The Guardian, the latter calling their Henry Rollins Don't Dance single on WeePOP! Records "the best indiepop song for years".
Their first single for Fortuna Pop!, The Polaroid Song, was released in December 2009. That song made it into the Drowned in Sound Top 50 Singles of the Year, and garnered them further great reviews. "I'm sort of scared at how brilliant Allo Darlin' are, and could be. Disarming and self-effacing they might be, but when they smack you square on the nose with a pop song so instantly loveable as The Polaroid Song it makes my jaw drop in awe." (A Layer of Chips blog)
Their debut album Allo Darlin' was released in June 2010, and another single Dreaming was preceded this in March. The album was recorded at Soup with producer Simon Trought, underneath the Duke of Uke shop in Brick Lane.
The band amicably disbanded in 2016.

Allo Darlin' Lyrics

And you don't know what it is that you're doing here
But you wanted it more than you ever did before
So you just can't be sure
Underneath a frozen northern sky
In the frost and the ice you hit a bull's eye
And the hunter's bow suddenly came aglow
There's no game plan
It's more than
You never knew someone
Could feel like they belong
And the words that you couldn't say
Shine like a light on your face
And it makes you feel so alive
This is the year we'll make it right
Jump feet first through the snow
We're never going home
Never going home
Walking down a New York City street
Some things get harder and harder to believe
WIth his hand in your hand, you finally understand
The sound of lines drawn in the sand
There's no game plan
The lyrics to Allo Darlin's song "Northern Lights" paint a picture of a journey to the Arctic. The singer has given up an entire weekend just to be in the vicinity, unsure of what brought them there. However, they are filled with a sense of longing that they've never felt before. They stand beneath the northern lights, amid the snow and ice, and suddenly everything aligns. The hunter's bow, a reference to Orion's bow in the constellation, glows with light.
Amidst this feeling of belonging, there is no game plan. The singer never knew that someone could feel like they belong, and there are words that they cannot express. However, this feeling shines through on their face. They feel alive and confident that they will make things right this year. They jump feet first through the snow, never wanting to leave.
