The band managed to score four Top 20 singles in their two year career. The first was the theme tune to STARStreet*. "Best Friends", which peaked at Number 20 in June 2001, was a favourite on the pop video channels. The second was a double-a-side of their own track, "Things That Go Bump In The Night", and a cover of Duran Duran's "Is There Something I Should Know?", the former track later appearing on the soundtrack to the first Scooby Doo movie. It reached Number 12 in September 2001.
Their third single, released in January 2002, was another cover, this time of Bucks Fizz's "Land Of Make Believe", and it gave them their first and only top 10 hit, reaching Number 9. Their fourth single, released in late April 2002, was another double-a-side, but this time both were original tracks. "Back When" and "Going All The Way", the latter appearing on the soundtrack to the movie Thunderpants. However, this could only reach Number 19 in the end, and when their self titled debut only managed to reach Number 43 - spending only 2 weeks in the UK Top 75 - the band parted ways with their record company, Island, and split up soon after.
Lost Without You

And the people who hide themselves behind a wall
Of illusion, never glimpse the truth
Then it's far too late when they pass away
We were talking about the love we all could share
When we find it to try our best to hold it there
With our love, with our love
We could save the world if they only knew
No one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you
We were talking about the love that's gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see, are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself
Then you may find peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we're all one
And life flows on within you and without you
The lyrics of allSTARS*'s song Lost Without You is a reflection on the importance of love and unity in a world that is so often marked by division and isolation. The song begins with a discussion of the "space between us all" and the "people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion," never truly connecting with others or experiencing the joys of real love. The lyrics suggest that it is only when it is "far too late" that these people realize their mistakes, by which time they have missed out on so much.
The song also speaks of the love that we all could share, if only we were willing to try our best to hold onto it. The songwriters suggest that with the power of love, we could save the world. However, they note that many people fail to see the importance of love and unity and instead focus on worldly gain, losing sight of what really matters in life. The lyrics end on a hopeful note, suggesting that if we can learn to see beyond ourselves, we can find peace of mind and a sense of connection with all of humanity.
Overall, the lyrics of Lost Without You encourage listeners to embrace love, unity, and empathy, while warning against the dangers of isolation and self-centeredness.
