Ace of Spades
Alltheniko Lyrics

[Bonus Track]

(Motörhead Cover)

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man,
You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me,
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say,
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The Ace Of Spades

Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil,
Going with the flow, it's all a game to me,
Seven or eleven, snake eyes watching you,
Double up or quit, double stake or split,
The Ace Of Spades

You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby,
I don't wanna live for ever,
And don't forget the joker!

Pushing up the ante, I know you've gotta see me,
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again,
I see it in your eyes, take one look and die,

The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be,
The Ace Of Spades

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Alltheniko's cover of Motörhead's Ace of Spades sits in the same vein as the original – gambling, risks, and the thrill of the game. The first two lines outline the singer’s expertise in gambling and how winning or losing doesn't matter since the fun and pleasure is in playing the game. The reference to not sharing the greed of others implies that the singer is a skilled gambler who doesn't rely on chance to win but rather has mastered the game. The ace of spades symbolizes the card that the singer needs to win and is willing to take risks to obtain it.

The second verse continues with the theme of risks and gambling. The alliteration in the line "Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil" highlights the idea of the thrill of the game being worth the risks. Each line that follows describes different scenarios that could result in a win or a loss, showing that the game of gambling is all about luck, but it is also a game of skill. The line "the joker" adds an interesting twist suggesting that there is always a wild card in any game of chance.

In the final verse, the singer pushes the game forward, pushing up the bet and challenging their opponent. The reference to the dead man's hand is a bit of a country-western reference from a story attributed to Wild Bill Hickok, who was holding a pair of eights and a pair of aces when he was shot dead during a game. Tying back to the opening lines, the song concludes with the singer stating that they don't want to live forever, indicating that they're willing to take risks and enjoy every moment, even in a game of chance.

Not too many bands pull off a Motorhead cover this great!

NEVERFORGOTTEN

True that, but 'Battalion of Saints' do this cover, THE BEST!!!

Angelic Storm

Tom Angelripper is basically the thrash metal version of Lemmy, and Sodom the thrash version of Motorhead, so it just stands to reason that they would do an awesome cover of this classic!

ThatOneGuy4495

Do you not know that Motorhead were one of the pioneers of thrash?

Cleo

While it's true that Motörhead was a big influence to thrash metal, I don't think anyone would consider Motörhead a thrash metal band.

Angelic Storm

Exactly. Motorhead have never been thrash metal, though they were a major influence on the early thrash bands.

Llorsh xdxd

motorhead is motorhead and sodom is sodom.

Sodom's Motorhead covers are the best I've heard, Iron Fist, Ace of Spades, uncle Tom should do a full on Motorhead cover album with Sodom.

MysteryBox
