The Graveyard of Broken Dreams
Altar of Oblivion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Slipping back beneath the grave hate
Heading for the final resting place
Searching for clarity
In the graveyard of broken dreams

Insulated and isolated
Despondency in our wombs
Insulated insinuations
Endless columns of tombs

Bracing my life for yet a fire
Enjoying the fruits of the reap
The genuine number shall remain unknown
Drawing attention to the prey
In the search for vistas to explore

Slipping back beneath the grave hate
Heading for the final resting place
Searching for clarity
In the graveyard of broken dreams

Turning back the tempo of time
Facing the rushing blood of my life
Searching for clarity
In the graveyard of broken dreams

Gateway to triumph, doorway to trounce
Nightmarish woes to be announced
Infiltrating the enemy lines
In slopes below, they shall resign

Screaming down upon the men
Lifting some pressure once again
Silent heroes are striking the eye
Drawing attention to the prey
In the search for vistas to explore

Slipping back beneath the grave hate
Heading for the final resting place
Searching for clarity
In the graveyard of broken dreams

Turning back the tempo of time
Facing the rushing blood of my life
Searching for clarity
In the graveyard of broken dreams

Bordering on desperation, disappearing into the dark
Furnish me with obligations, furnish me with shrieks of joy
Forced to take wide-ranging channels, to protect against the swarm
Obey the rules of burning warfare, descending into Pandemonium

Breaking the strength of mind
Breaking the force behind
Reading my testament to the gleams of fire

Protecting and providing people
Marching through the flurry fog

Keeps them from the disbelieve
Preserve the purity and pride

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Altar of Oblivion's song "The Graveyard of Broken Dreams" delve into themes of despair, isolation, and the search for clarity amidst shattered aspirations. The opening lines, "Slipping back beneath the grave hate, Heading for the final resting place," suggest a descent into darkness and negativity. The singer is on a quest for understanding and enlightenment, but they find themselves trapped in a place where dreams go to die.

The graveyard is depicted as a desolate and haunting space, filled with broken dreams and the remnants of lost hopes. The repetition of the phrase "searching for clarity" reinforces the yearning for meaning and purpose in an existence that feels devoid of both. The verses also allude to a struggle against internal turmoil, with lines such as "Insulated and isolated, Despondency in our wombs" conveying a sense of emotional disconnect and despair.

As the song progresses, there is a shift towards resilience and defiance. The lyrics speak of gathering strength, drawing attention to the prey, and searching for vistas to explore. This hints at a determination to break free from the graveyard's grasp and find new horizons. The final lines emphasize the importance of protecting and providing for others, preserving purity and pride in the face of adversity.

Overall, "The Graveyard of Broken Dreams" explores the human experience of facing disappointment and hardship, the longing for clarity amidst confusion, and the strength to confront one's inner demons.

As a musician I hate how people that make pop music are more recognized than these geniuses.
Brothers , support this band ! Buy their stuff ! Believe me , that is really important.

BIOSHOCKFOXX

Because pop is such a mainstream...even GnR is not anymore such a mainstream and not even part of the pop, not even the best rock bands that are radio friendly, because how things roll now...which is lame, but no matter how much you buy you wont reach that kind of goal. Plus, it's the top radio channels that people listen to, and usually this kind of music is played on the alternative radio channels, which only alternatives are listening to since they know of such existence, and the regular people only know what is being publicized etc. and the mainstream radio, they never look up "alternative music radio channels".
