A Remedy and a Fever
Altar of Plagues Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Chasing time, thats buried in.
rank and lodged, and paused.
And held at arms length.
With the season, comes the fathers line.
With the son, comes the fall.
A blank portrait, a son believed.
A sun was led and watch, weathered.
For the absence of light.
How to measure where the years have brought you,
and speak to decide, black from south.
You were taken away, dropped and mistrusted,

burned in the sun.
PUSH AND RELEASE.

Overall Meaning

The opening lyrics of Altar of Plagues' song "A Remedy and a Fever" speak to the elusiveness of time and how it seems to be buried and inaccessible. The singer seems to be grappling with the idea of not being able to move forward or progress in their life. The phrase "held at arms length" seems to suggest that this concept of time is just out of reach and unattainable.

The mention of "fathers line" and "son" could be interpreted in a religious context, with "father" and "son" representing God and Jesus. The phrase "comes the fall" could be a reference to the fall from grace or the original sin. The idea of a "blank portrait" and a "son believed" could be interpreted as a commentary on the nature of faith and how it relies on a certain degree of blind faith and trust.

The last verse seems to suggest that the singer has been wronged or betrayed in some way. They were "taken away" and "mistrusted" and ultimately "burned in the sun." The final phrase "push and release" could be interpreted in a few ways, such as a call to action or a metaphor for the cyclical nature of life and death.

I'm glad I was able to see Altar of Plagues at least once before they broke up, they were an amazing band with a very precise artistic idea. They will be remembered.

@ghilliedhu1026

+CugnoTheSwiss Did they broke up? I have no idea what a hell is happening with Altar of Plagues, they said they would give a last concert but they made more tho...

@CugnoTheSwiss

+Ghillie Dhu Yeah, they made one last tour because of high demand. They had no bass player but it was a great show nontheless.

@ghilliedhu1026

That's no excuse tho, here when i go underground black metal concerts i see the same bass players playing in 4 bands throughout the night lol

@CugnoTheSwiss

+Ghillie Dhu Never came across such thing. but there are maybe three black metal bands from my area that I know of. AoP had one guitar far into the low range freq, so it kind of made up for the bass.
