In January 2008, the band decided to part ways with their record label Metal Heaven for undisclosed reasons. They are currently searching for a new record deal. Songs for a new album have been written which had originally been planned for release in late 2007; as soon a new contract with a record company is signed, work on the planned release will continue.
In the same month, bass player Marko Pukkila parted ways with the band after a disagreement concerning the split with Metal Heaven. His replacement is Ex-Terrowheel bass player and current Alteria vocalist Marco Lupenero. This means that the only original member still active with Altaria is Tony Smedjebacka.
Altaria have toured with the likes of Nightwish and Sonata Arctica.
Current Members:
Marco Lupenero - Vocals, Bass (2006-Present)
Juha Pekka Alanen – Guitar (2005–present)
Petri Aho – Guitar (2004 (live), 2006–present)
Tony Smedjebacka – Drums (2000–present)

And the one I hate.
Another pain faced man,
Lost in the dream land.
Another spiteful soul,
Seeks, destroys.
Another two faced man,
A figure in black is standing there,
On the edge of sanity.
Holding onto the dawn of creation,
While the world is ruled by greed.
Emeralds fall, like rain from the sky,
The free fight for freedom,
While a forgotten angel cries.
Showdown, victims of fate,
Soldiers in agony still asking "Why?".
Spell bound, under the blade,
Hatred of lordship reflected by innocent eyes.
Another fading flame,
In a private hell,
Another desperate man,
Leaving his dark cell.
A creature of war is standing there,
On the burning battle field,
Holding onto the glory of nations,
While the heart strives to break free.
Emeralds fall, like rain from the sky,
The free fight for freedom,
While a forgotten angel cries.
Showdown, victims of fate,
Soldiers in agony still asking "Why?".
Spell bound, under the blade,
Hatred of lordship reflected by innocent eyes.

The song "Showdown" by Altaria tells the story of two different and yet similar scenarios. The first scenario describes a man lost in the world of dreams and unable to face the pain of reality. He is filled with hatred and anger towards those who have hurt him, and he seeks to destroy them. The second scenario describes a soldier on a burning battlefield, fighting for his country and his freedom against an enemy he cannot see.
Both scenarios share one thing in common: a desire for freedom. The soldier fights for his country's freedom, while the man lost in dreams seeks to be free from his pain and suffering. But both are victims of fate, trapped in a world ruled by greed and lordship. The emeralds falling from the sky symbolize the hope for a better world, where freedom exists for all, but it is a distant dream that seems impossible to achieve.
The chorus of the song, "Showdown," represents the moment of final confrontation. The soldiers are under the blade, fighting for their lives, while the man lost in dreams confronts his pain face to face. The hatred of lordship is reflected in innocent eyes, as they ask the question, "Why?"
