In January 2008, the band decided to part ways with their record label Metal Heaven for undisclosed reasons. They are currently searching for a new record deal. Songs for a new album have been written which had originally been planned for release in late 2007; as soon a new contract with a record company is signed, work on the planned release will continue.
In the same month, bass player Marko Pukkila parted ways with the band after a disagreement concerning the split with Metal Heaven. His replacement is Ex-Terrowheel bass player and current Alteria vocalist Marco Lupenero. This means that the only original member still active with Altaria is Tony Smedjebacka.
Altaria have toured with the likes of Nightwish and Sonata Arctica.
Current Members:
Marco Lupenero - Vocals, Bass (2006-Present)
Juha Pekka Alanen – Guitar (2005–present)
Petri Aho – Guitar (2004 (live), 2006–present)
Tony Smedjebacka – Drums (2000–present)

Altaria Lyrics

Flash striking fears, so hard to see.
Yeah, the monsters without mind, hiding from the truth.
There's a stranger in your dreams,
Like a shadow in the night.
I'm a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger, stranger)
I can't get out, nowhere to go.
Nothing to fear, a heart of stone.
There's a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
Like a shadow in the night. (Shadow in the night)
I'm a stranger in your dreams,
And there's no where you can hide. (Nowhere you can hide)
[Solo]
You lie awake, no sleep, no dream.
There's no escape, away from me.
Stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
Like a shadow in the night.
I'm a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger, stranger)
And there's no where you can hide.
There's a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
Like a shadow in the night. (Shadow in the night)
I'm a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
And there's no where you can hide. (Nowhere you can hide)
[Fading out]
There's a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
Like a shadow in the night. (Shadow in the night)
I'm a stranger in your dreams, (Stranger)
And there's no where you can hide. (Nowhere you can hide)
The lyrics of Altaria's song "Stranger" describe the fear and unease caused by a mysterious figure, who the singer refers to as a "stranger in your dreams." The imagery of "monsters without mind" and "flash striking fears" conveys a sense of danger and unpredictability. The singer recognizes that this stranger is a shadowy presence, always just out of reach. They acknowledge that there is nowhere to hide from this stranger, and the lack of sleep and escape suggests a level of psychic torment. Despite this, the singer appears to be resilient, with a "heart of stone" and nothing to fear.
The repetition of the phrase "stranger in your dreams" underscores the persistence of this haunting figure. The use of "shadow in the night" as a metaphor for the stranger reinforces the idea of something insubstantial and elusive. The solo section represents a moment of heightened tension, perhaps signifying the moment when the stranger is most present. The fading outro emphasizes the idea that the stranger is ever-present and unshakeable.
Overall, the lyrics of "Stranger" capture the sensation of being pursued by an unseen force, with a reliance on vivid imagery to convey the emotional impact of the experience.
