from recent two decades.
Refined electronic, psychedelic seventies and gitars. Hipnotic spacious dynamics.
ALTERS music alternates freely between the opposites, one moment full of energy, rich with dissonances and polyrhytms, throbbing with drums and enjoying improvisation, the next it switches into frozen plateaux exploiting every single note with uncompromising precision. The band consists of two multi-instrumentalists renowned for their rendition of early music, former students of the Academy of Music in Cracow (Zalewski&Zalewski) and an academic teacher in Academy in Fine Arts (Pludra). The juxtaposition of their artistic ways of expression results in their concerts entering the realm of audio-visual spectacles. The influences of such bands as Floyd, King Crimson, The Doors, SBB, Flaming Lips can be found there but the musicians are also well acquainted with counterpoint techniques, Stockhausen's experiments and contemporary innovations introduced by such artists as Aphex Twin or Steve Reich. Conscious administering the doses of rhytm escalation and combining that with intricate subtle melodies places ALTERS in the musical avant-garde. This is progressive rock of the 21st century.
Band Members:

reviews:
Expect the unexpected. It is impossible to predict which direction any of the compositions will take. Mśusic of Alters is an improvisation and avant-garde. I'd label it a modern genre of jazz rock. (...) And so: psychedelia, musical "ride" and mental "flight" into other, absolutely unearthly worlds. Those are the impressions that Alters' music elicits.
Artur Chachlowski Mały Leksykon Wielkich Zespołów
Despite the fact that the group's music is deeply rooted in the past there's no arguing about Alters not copying anyones' ideas. A bit old fashioned guitar sound (a nod towards SBB) and solutions deriving from what was played in the 70s (with Strange Services being the best example)
are in a way counterbalanced by search for modern sounds from the boarder of trance and free jazz and by interesting use of such untypical instruments as viola da gamba (impressive, intriguing solo in Nasty Languor).
Marek Świrkowicz Teraz Rock
Believing relentlessly and incessantly in their talent of creating modern music that's full
of diverse and improvised senses, plus being genuinely tempted by a never-ending fusion
of tastes and techniques, ALTERS can have an impressive edge in the spotlight of rock, jazz, indie art and avant-garde. They're prog rock, art rock, modern rock and beyond.

They don't know what they're saying they don't know anything at all
For all that matters is you know that this is not their fault
All the places we should never go
Lost between the cracks something wicked waits below
And all I'm saying there are some things better left unseen at all
It's been so long it's tearing me apart
Where we went wrong. Now we've come so far
The madness in our hearts will never end
'Cause I've seen it all
I can't fight it anymore
If I had burned forevermore
Is there nothing left to save?
'Cause now more than ever what we need
Is love to replace all the obscene
Something good and something beautiful if only we could see
That now more than ever what we need
Is a little love
Is there no more have we gone too far?
There's nothing I can do to make you sway
To see the blood running through our hearts
No different from the blood we've come to hate
When I close my eyes
I dream that we are colorblind
And now you know you can't deny
Only ignorance to blame
'Cause now more than ever what we need
Is love to replace all the obscene
Something good and something beautiful if only we could see
That now more than ever what we need
Is a little love
Now let it calm the fire that burns within your heart tonight
For some are too blind to see the world as it's meant to be
When I close my eyes
I dream that we are colorblind
And now you know you can't deny
Only ignorance to blame
'Cause now more than ever what we need
Is love to replace all the obscene
Something good and something beautiful if only we could see
That now more than ever what we need
Is a little love
In "Calm," Alters presents a message of reconciliation and unity over the backdrop of a haunting and intense rock ballad. The lyrics are poignant and meaningful, delving into the themes of love, tragedy, and despair. The song starts with a call for peace and serenity, urging the listener to stop fighting and let go of the anger, an emotion that only leads to self-destruction. The artist references people who say things without knowing anything, and urges to forgive them for their ignorance.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of frustration and sadness, as the artist seems to be reaching out to someone who is lost, dealing with a conflict that has gone too deep. The lyrics touch upon the idea that the madness in our hearts never ends and that love is the only thing that can replace the calamity of hate and animosity. The artist talks about lost opportunities, things that are best left unknown, and wickedness that waits below the cracks.
As the song progresses, the artist shifts his focus from the negativity to love, and hopes for the world to become a better place. The artist wants the listener to understand that we must learn to see the world through a different lens, a lens that is devoid of color, void of distinctions between humans. He dreams of becoming colorblind, to see beyond color, and to recognize the commonalities that lie in every human being. Alters urges us to stop hating each other because of color or prejudice and learn to empathize with one another. The final message of the song is a call to action; he calls for love to replace the obscene and the need for a little love in the world.
