Taken from the original liner-notes:
I remember this show quiet well. It was a very cold night and Leslie West pf Mountain opened the show which I did miss. I remembered that Johnny Winter played first, Alvin was the head liner this night. Folks this was 18 years ago.
My thoughts of this show was, that both guitarists played such excellent sets. That the only problem is they did not jam together. I´m not certain if they even met back stage. But that would have been of something to have two of the greatest guitarists jam together, when they were both in peak form.
Ok, no jam session, but real good handmade music .. enjoy it !
It´s not necessary to write which guitarplayer played on which song, I´m sure you will hear the difference !

Yes I get the blues and it hurts me deep inside
That's why I'm gonna pack my bags I'm gonna leave this town and ride
Last night I lay sleeping I tell you babe I was sleeping by myself
Last night I lay sleeping I tell you babe I was sleeping by myself
The one I really love with is on the other side of town sleeping with somebody else.
I love my baby Yeah, God only knows I do
I love my baby I love my baby gonna tell the world I know I do that's why I'm gonna leave my woman, yeah, and tell the world I know it's true.
The lyrics in Alvin Lee's "Slow Blues In 'C'" speak to the pain of heartbreak and the decision to leave it behind. The repetition of the opening line, "Yes I get the blues and it hurts me deep inside," conveys the deep emotional impact that love and loss can have on a person. The following lines, "That's why I'm gonna pack my bags / I'm gonna leave this town and ride," signal a desire for change and a fresh start.
The second verse focuses on the betrayal of infidelity, as the singer laments, "The one I really love with / is on the other side of town sleeping with somebody else." The singer's pain is palpable as he describes himself lying alone in bed, while the person he loves is with someone else. The final verse expresses the conflicted feelings of love and frustration, as the singer proclaims his love for his partner, but acknowledges that he must leave her behind in order to move on.
Overall, "Slow Blues In 'C'" is a powerful depiction of the emotional toll of heartbreak, and the contradictory feelings of love, pain, and the need for change that often accompany it.

The man who played faster than his shadow, Captain Speedfingers, and Fastest Guitar In The West were all nicknames that Alvin sported throughout his career and for a reason. His pure, raw, God-given finger speed on a guitar was at times almost unbelievable, and all of his great axe work over the years was done without the use of a foot pedal or fuzz box or wah-wah bar or any other kind of gimmick. Unheard of by today's picker's. Alvin was truly one of kind and will forever be missed!

Alvin didn’t use a fuzz box or wah wah, like that other brilliant guitarist Hendrix,or many others. But if you watch Alvin, before every solo, he turns his guitar up resulting in overdriving his Marshall amplifiers, which creates distortion,or giving the same effect as a fuzz box.
@JojoplusBo
Alvins mastery on guitar … did not require a fuzz box.

I'm 70 and remember him well, was always one of my favorites. Saw him in Boston in a dumpy cellar with mattress on the floor and no chairs! This was in the real old days.

Életem egyik legnagyobb koncertélménye volt, amikor Lee először adott koncertet Budapesten. Napokig a hatása alatt voltam.

I saw him in Pittsburgh at a showcase presentation only 200 seats. The best damn show I ever attended he played from noon until 8:30pm he covered everything. I left that show completely saturated and a smile on my face that was on me for at least a week. The next chance I got was Wheeling Civic Center at that show he caught the drum sticks thrown by the drummer and continued playing "Good morning Little School Girl" without missing a note. I was on Blue Barrels at the time and thought I was trippin, but I bought a lazer disc movie later and there it was the actual footage of him catching the sticks and continuing to play unimpeded. Thank You TYA and RIP Alvin you were the best!

damn, I was thrilled to have seen him in Germany for 2+ hours. I was 6' away from him all night and even shared my wine skin full of ouzo with him. He also had a top notch band that night in 1984
